Volunteer Manager

From August 19-22, 2024, the City of Chicago will be the epicenter of a historic event- the Democratic National Convention. Democrats from all over the country will gather to nominate President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for re-election. The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is assembling a diverse team to aid in planning for daytime activities at the McCormick Place Convention Center.

During Convention week, McCormick Place, the Convention Center, will be the home to most daytime activities with over 4,000 attendees. The Democratic National Committee (DNC) organizes DNC member meetings, panels, training, community service projects and many other events each day of the Convention.

The work schedule includes nights, weekends, and holidays and this role is from June 30, 2024 through August 31, 2024.

The DNC is offering a unique opportunity to be the Volunteer Manager for this significant event. This role will be responsible for scheduling, training, and managing a 600+ volunteer program. This individual has experience with advocacy, electoral, advance work, or volunteer organizing and is comfortable making high volumes of telephone calls, speaking publicly, making presentations, and leading meetings.

Communicating daily with individuals and groups of volunteers to relay registration information and schedule details, as well as respond to any questions/complaints, is critical. Has previously worked independently in a fast-paced environment under the pressure of extremely tight deadlines. Thorough knowledge of Google Suite.

The Volunteer Manager will require travel, which could be more than 50% of the time.

The compensation for this role is $14,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
