Associate Specialist, Animal Sciences and Technologies

Accountabilities:

As an Associate Specialist, you will work independently and as part of a team, conducting hands-on husbandry duties with multiple laboratory animal species. Your responsibilities will include operating cage wash equipment, maintaining the animal facility in a clean and orderly condition, performing daily health checks, and using digital resources for log keeping and communication.

Essential Skills/Experience:

• HSD or equivalent and 2 years of relevant experience in a laboratory animal research setting
• Ability to meet physical requirements of the job
• Knowledge and use of protective equipment and safety procedures
• Willingness to perform husbandry tasks for animals exposed to BSL2 agents
• Basic computer skills – Microsoft Office, Outlook
• Good communication skills, competent in written and spoken English

Desirable Skills/Experience:

• Certification from the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science at the ALAT level
• Knowledge of normal animal behavior for mouse, rat, and hamster species
• Knowledge of hazardous and infectious material handling
