  • Full-time fixed term contract for 24 months

  • Base Salary HEO6 $99,455 + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The Project Officer works within the University Infrastructure (UI) teams to provide project management advice and operational support to the project teams, coordinating the implementation and delivery of activities and tasks in order to meet established milestones and deliverables. They are responsible for providing project management support to a work stream within a multi-faceted program of work, including establishing project teams, developing and implementing plans, managing project financials and preparing status reports in line with broader project governance requirements. The Project Officer will manage work-stream stakeholders and communications, ensuring effective collaboration and team work with other project teams and stakeholders across the University.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • support the establishment and communication of the project management methodology, including project processes, document and reporting templates and planning tools
  • manage data integrity, ensuring confidentiality and the safe storage of records and files (electronic and hard copy) is utilised throughout project implementation
  • develop and maintain effective and productive relationships with stakeholders
  • provide training to internal and external stakeholders
  • provide project administration support and project/program financial management support to the Manager, Program Management Office.

About you

  • demonstrated experience in project coordination to strict deadlines and manage various demands
  • demonstrated experience engaging with multiple diverse internal and external stakeholders
  • experience managing a diverse group of key internal/external stakeholders on large or complex projects.
  • experience monitoring budgets and expenditure
  • excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills
  • has previously worked in the higher education/tertiary sector or at a complex, multi-faceted organisation.

Please note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. For a continuing position, you must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the reasons for the position.
