Engineering Manager

Responsible for engineering design and modification activities related to electrical & electronic circuits, systems, and equipment. May involve the installation and operation & maintenance of electrical systems and equipment.

Discipline concerning power systems, electronic and transmission equipment, electric service and supply systems, lighting systems, communication service and supply systems, fire alarm and detection systems, control systems or electrical installations.

An electrical engineer focuses on designing, maintaining and improving products that are powered by or produce electricity. Electrical engineering deals with electricity, electro-magnetism and electronics. It also covers power, control systems, telecommunications and signal processing. These engineers are usually concerned with large-scale electrical systems such as motor control and power transmission, as well as utilizing electricity to transmit energy.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Systems Engineers
  • Review RAMS related contract requirements and prepare suitable strategy and approach to achieve those requirements
  • Prepare RAMS Assurance Reports
  • Provide RAMS including Accessibility advise, guidance and/or assurance to Designers or Project Stakeholders
  • Facilitate FMECA workshops with project stakeholders
  • Conduct RAMS modelling during design development
  • Actively participate in achieving engineering and project milestones within the project schedule
  • Undertake RAMS related Verification and Validation activities
  • Contributing to design reviews, workshops, integration, test and site installation activities
  • Actively participate in Type Approval as required
  • Develop RAMS Management Plans
  • Ensuring that RAMS related activities follow the appropriate methodologies defined in project RAMS Management Plans
  • Working as part of a project or bid team for delivering mission-critical capability
  • Liaising with customers, end-users, subcontractors and suppliers

Requirements

  • Master of Engineering degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng), or Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent in the relevant field from any global organization (e.g., Institution of Civil Engineers, UK)
  • Mechanical, software, electronics/electrical or systems engineering degree or equivalent 10 years + experience RAMS Related functional area
  • A strong background in RAMS Engineering
  • Practical experience in all phases of the EN50126 life cycle.
  • Practical experience in RAMS Management and the use of relevant tools.
  • Experience in Safety Certification following the Federal Transit Agency process (handbook)
  • Experience in requirements, integration, verification, validation and qualification engineering management.
  • Experience in leading risk assessments
  • A high level of interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Able to evaluate information quickly, identifying key issues and formulate conclusions based on sound, practical judgement, experience and common sense.
