Job Description:

Role Summary/Purpose:

As a member of the Growth Governance & Excellence organization, the AVP, Marketing Fair Lending Tollgate Manager is responsible for executing various quality and oversight routines to strengthen the first line of defense risk management framework within Growth. Reporting to the VP, New Product Introduction and Change Strategy, the AVP, Marketing Fair Lending Tollgate Manager will support various governance and oversight activities and lead the Marketing Fair Lending governance and tollgate activities in connection with the Fair Lending requirements set forth by the SYB R-700 Fair Lending Policy and the R-S700.5 Fair Lending of Consumer Segmentation Tools Standard. This individual must be a strong communicator, work effectively in a matrixed environment, able to think both strategically and tactically, and embrace a culture of change and innovation.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform, document, and retain evidence of Marketing Fair Lending tollgate activities in support of a Synchrony wide view of Fair Lending activities
  • Facilitate weekly tasks related to tollage meetings including creating agendas, collecting materials, and keeping/maintaining minutes, leading and facilitating weekly meetings to ensure appropriate risk oversight and management of consumer segmentation tools, models, and other tools that meet the tollgate requirements
  • Maintain the Customer Segmentation Tool (CST) and Non Model Tool (NMT) quarterly management and attestation
  • Manage Suppression Repository activities including management of Synchrony Standard and Standard Plus Suppression Repository, facilitate periodic review of suppressions and collaborate with stakeholders to circulate revisions
  • Support L3 Process owner activities including periodic refresh of the RAQ, PRC and PRCSA documents, issue resolution and remediation related to Marketing Fair Lending Tollgate, when necessary
  • Support compliant execution of the Marketing Fair Lending Tollgate process in accordance with applicable policies and procedures
  • Design and deliver regular and ad hoc training to key stakeholders
  • Develop and perform controls to ensure complete and accurate tollgate activities are properly mitigating risk
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and enhance the Marketing Fair Lending Tollgate process through workflow automation and reporting in partnership with the Workfront team to lead the development and implementation of enhancements into the Workfront workstream
  • Work with key stakeholders in Marketing, campaign execution, client teams, second line of defense fair lending leaders, product owners, and other business leaders to ensure compliant, timely, and effective routines in Fair Lending, and other quality and oversight activities
  • Collaborate with Change Governance COE and other tollgates throughout the company to ensure risks and controls are properly identified as part of the Company’s Change Governance process
  • Ensure significant risks are promptly escalated to the appropriate level through the prescribed protocol
  • Introduce into the business effective tools, systems, and controls for analyzing and monitoring applicable regulatory risks
  • As team roles and responsibilities expand and change over time, incorporate new quality, oversight, or governance routines and activities into ongoing operating rhythm
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree. In lieu of a degree, 8+ years of risk management, compliance, and/or direct process management experience in the financial services industry.
  • 5+ years of professional work experience, preferably in a financial services institution, to include:
    • Experience in areas including governance, quality, oversight, fair lending or compliance
    • Experience with analytical, organizational, and decision-making responsibilities
    • Cross functional team leadership experience
    • Experience engaging with cross functional stakeholders

Grade/Level: 11

The salary range for this position is 90,000.00 - 155,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
