Position Summary:

  • Compensation: $40-$45/hour
  • Travel/Location: On-Site Florida various locations

Mission of Role/Position Summary:

The Shelter Support Manager will be responsible for overseeing all shelter operations. The Shelter Support Manager will ensure all team members demonstrate high empathy and work with appropriate parties to accomplish established objectives. This role will be critical in meeting the needs of the population it serves. This position requires excellent relationship-building and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides operational assignments, safety updates and communications to shelter staff and guests to ensure efficient operations.
  • Provide oversight, administrative support and supervision for all functions in the shelter. Ensure that the residents' needs are being met.
  • Ensure staff demonstrate a high level of respect for the guests. Ensure safety and privacy is a priority for guests and shelter workers
  • Conducts on-site staff onboarding training sessions and provides supplemental or ongoing training as needed
  • Facilitates employee technology and resources as needed
  • Develops and modifies work plans, methods, and procedures, clearly and frequently communicating these instructions and updates to shelter staff
  • Determines work priorities, and creates work schedules and assignments to ensure adequate staff coverage of all shelter needs
  • Reports daily shift assignments for the following dayโ€™s shift
  • Assigns and distributes work, reviews work for accuracy and completeness and provides feedback as necessary to ensure proper completion
  • Resolves problems encountered during daily operations and determines appropriate solutions
  • Responds to, and documents in writing, incidents and informal grievances and relays details and information to appropriate leadership.
  • Documents in writing situations which may be cause for disciplinary action and reports immediately to appropriate leadership, including, but not limited to.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with following and executing program protocols.
  • High degree of empathy.
  • Comfortability with quick pivots/adjustments in program processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, strong Excel skill is preferred.
  • Outstanding organization and ability to work independently in fast paced environment.
  • Able to drive in daytime and at night
  • Able to work outdoors in inclement weather, extreme heat and/or humidity and/or extreme cold.
  • Able to function in a dynamic and stressful environment with little or no supervision,
  • Adapting to change, negotiating compromise, and tolerating ambiguity.
  • Able to participate and contribute to regular meetings.
  • Must have active listening skills.
  • Able to work well with others.

Experience/Education Required:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working in customer service is required.
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences present and strong desire to help and make a difference.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience working in the social services and/or health care fields
  • Minimum (3) years' experience managing shelters.

Experience/Education Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree in emergency management, human service or relevant field.
  • Experience in Emergency Management/Operations.
  • Bilingual in (Spanish/English and able to read, write, and speak proficiently in both Spanish and English.

Expected Hours of Work

  • Schedule may vary and require work on evenings and weekends and dependability and punctuality are paramount.
  • Schedule may require 12-hour shifts/7 days per week for initial response period.

Travel Requirements

  • Travel may be required up to 25% of the time.

Physical Requirements

  • May require sitting or standing for hours for a long period of time.
  • Mobility around client sites necessary.
  • May require long hours at a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds repetitively as needed.
  • Able to stand and or sit for two-hour periods.
  • Able to bend or stoop multiple times.
  • Able to step up/down 18 inches and climb two or more flights of stairs.

Work Environment

  • Client site.
  • Work may require work in austere locations and various weather conditions.
  • All ACDC positions require travel to client sites or for emergency activations/deployments, as requested.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must pass company and any applicable client background check and reference check upon offer of employment.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States is required.
