About the role

  • Nielsen is seeking an organized, detail oriented, team player, to join the Collections and ITAM Back Office Engineering team in the role of Software Engineer. Nielsen’s Audience Measurement Engineering platforms support the measurement of television viewing in more than 30 countries around the world. The Software Engineer will be responsible to define, develop, test, analyze, and deliver technology solutions within Nielsen’s Collections platforms.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years equivalent work experience.
  • Testing and debugging abilities, functional, analytical and technical abilities, ability to find bugs, attention to detail, troubleshooting
  • Experience with software engineering fundamentals including object-oriented design, data structures, dependency injection, testable code, and/or algorithms.
  • Understanding of continuous integration and continuous deployment environments and
  • tools including GitLab and Terraform
  • Hands-on experience as a software engineer with expertise and focus on one or more
  • technologies inclusive of NodeJS, AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, NGNX web servers), Java, Python, PostgreSQL, REST API’s
  • Appreciation for and commitment to clean, reusable and well-tested code, architecture,
  • and documentation
  • Experience with large scale enterprise system development and integration.
  • Experience with Agile, Scrum, and Scaled Agile Framework a plus.

Skills

  • Strong analytical skills and sense of technical creativity
  • Experience with software engineering fundamentals including object-oriented design, data structures, dependency injection, testable code, and algorithms.
  • Resourceful, self-starter, and a team-player
  • Effective communication and writing skills are a must
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high quality technical documentation.
  • Experience in writing unit/integration tests including test automation.
  • Detail oriented with a commitment to innovation
  • Adaptability — a fast learner with a willingness to build solutions using tools to which you may have had little previous exposure.
  • Ability to communicate in English (conduct written and spoken daily conversations with
  • English speakers from 30+ countries around the world)
