What We Need

Hangar 13 is looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our backend team developing server side features for AAA Games.

What you will do

• Contribute to existing backend projects written in Go and C++.
• Collaborate with designers and engineers to design backend solutions for AAA Games.
• Work with the lead backend engineer on strategic solutions for future AAA Game releases.
• Collaborate with game developers to integrate online features into game clients.
• Work with open source and proprietary software technologies to fulfill backend project technical requirements.
• Identify and overcome technical and developmental risks and obstacles.
• Develop solutions using industry standard methodologies, including test driven development, continuous integration and continuous deployment.

Who you are

• Bachelor's /Master's degree in Computer Science, Physics, or a relevant Engineering field.
• Extensive experience designing robust, high performance, scalable systems using one or more programming languages including Go, C++, or Java. Knowledge of relational and non-relational data storage solutions and associated schema design.
• Experience deploying and managing server components on Linux.
• A strong commitment to code quality, documentation, and software development standard methodologies.
• Good knowledge of software design fundamentals and principles.
• Ability to learn and master new technologies and supporting infrastructure.
• Ability to work proactively, autonomously, and efficiently under deadlines.
• Experience with industry standard tools (Git, IDEs, CI/CD, etc.).
• Experience running scalable server components on cloud infrastructures (GCP, AWS, etc.)

Nice to have

• Experience using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to web based UI frameworks (e.g. React, Angular) or an interest to learn such technologies.
• Experience with real-time multiplayer peer to peer or client-server communications.
• Shipped one or more game titles.
