The Team :

The Platforms & Tools team is responsible for developing and managing enterprise tools enabling Agile Execution (Azure DevOps), Project Portfolio Management and Reporting (Tableau), for all the S&P Global Divisions. These tools are used across S&P for Portfolio Management capabilities like prioritizing, executing and tracking Portfolios, Agile Workflow Execution to enable Agile delivery and Portfolio & Agile Analytics.

As an Associate Director for DevOps Tools, you will have the opportunity to work on latest technologies and engage closely with CTOs and senior stakeholders from all the Business Groups and Divisions within S&P. Overall goal of the Team is to develop and support a common Enterprise toolset for all divisions to enable Portfolio Management, resourcing, execution, reporting and monitoring with cutting edge technologies.

Responsibilities:

As an Associate Director for DevOps Tools, you will be leading the Dev and DevOps Tools function of the Developer Experience Group. You will liaison with CTOs and Heads of Technology within various divisions and business units to support and enhance their operations on tools that we manage i.e. GitHub (Server & Cloud), Jenkins, SonarQube, Artifactory, Visual Studio etc. You will be responsible for defining a standard DevOps toolchain for DTS division and and cascading best practices for these. Detailed Responsibilities are mentioned below :

Effective Communication and Stakeholder Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for CTOs and other technical stakeholders from various divisions.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Facilitate collaboration and alignment between divisions and the DevOps team.

Manage Enterprise DevOps Tools:

  • Oversee critical applications such as GitHub Enterprise Server, Cloud, ADO Pipelines, Jenkins, SonarQube, Artifactory, Visual Studio.
  • Ensure the security, functionality, and efficiency of these platforms, given the confidential nature of the data.
  • Monitor the usage of DevOps and AI Copilot tools.
  • Analyze feedback from developers to identify areas for improvement.
  • Track metrics such as code completion rates, accuracy of suggestions, and user satisfaction scores.

Setup Standard DevOps Toolchain for DTS:

  • Partner with other Engineering teams within DTS to design, develop, and maintain tools, frameworks, libraries, and infrastructure to streamline the Enterprise DevOps Tools and improve developer productivity.

Rapid Development Patterns:

  • Explore and implement AI Copilot tools into the developer workflow and IDEs to enhance Developer Productivity and Experience.
  • Set up necessary plugins, extensions, or APIs for seamless integration with existing tools and processes.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and inefficiencies in developer workflows and tools.
  • Implement solutions to improve performance and scalability.

Tool Chain Best Practices and Trainings:

  • Organize workshops, training sessions, and educational events to teach developers new technologies, best practices, and techniques for improving their development workflow.

Developer Feedback and Iteration:

  • Gather feedback from developers to continuously improve tools, documentation, and processes.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, quality assurance engineers, and other stakeholders to consider developer needs throughout the product development lifecycle.

Stay Current with Industry Trends:

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, tools, and technologies in software development and developer experience.
  • Evaluate their potential impact on the organization.

Continuous Improvement Initiatives:

  • Lead initiatives aimed at enhancing developer experience and performance.
  • Collaborate with developers and business stakeholders to develop and implement new extensions, features, or models to improve workflows.

Basic Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in DevOps, software development, or a related field.
  • Proven track record in managing and maintaining Enterprise DevOps Tools such as GitHub Enterprise Server, Cloud, ADO Pipelines, and Jenkins.
  • Experience in a leadership or managerial role, with responsibilities that include strategic planning and execution.
  • Deep understanding of DevOps principles, practices, and tools.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate with CTOs and other technical stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.
  • Ability to gather and analyze feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, tools, and technologies in software development and DevOps.
  • Understanding of GenAI capabilities and their integration into developer workflows is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Google Professional DevOps Engineer, Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, or similar are preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in organizing and leading training sessions and workshops.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
