Long Home Products, a leader in the home renovation industry since 1945 has an opening for a Permit Specialist to join our amazing team in New England!

The Permit Specialist facilitates the application processing of required permits, ensuring adherence to the state and local regulations. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The Permit Specialist will liaise between various stakeholders, including government officials, contractors, and property owners to ensure a smooth permitting process while upholding the highest standards of compliance and professionalism.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

1.Permit Processing and Management

a. Review and process permit applications in accordance with state and local regulations.

b. Interpret and apply state laws and local ordinances related to required permits.

c. Assist applicants in understanding the permitting process and requirements.

d. Coordinate with other departments and external agencies as necessary.

2.Stakeholder Interaction

a. Provide clear explanations to management regarding the permitting process, fees, and required documentation.

b. Address customer concerns promptly and ensure satisfaction through the permitting process.

3.Compliance and Enforcement

a. Ensure all permit applications comply with applicable laws, ordinances, and codes.

b. Assist in the resolution of compliance issues, working closely with other departments and external agencies.

4.Documentation and Record-Keeping

a. Maintain accurate records of all permits issued, inspections performed, and other related activities.

(One hard copy kept in the branch and digital copy uploaded to the job file in Salesforce.)

b. Prepare and submit regular reports to management regarding permitting activities and compliance issues.

c. Document process of requesting and processing permit fees and submit to accounting.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a good understanding of the permitting process and related state and local regulations. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   1. Knowledge of state and local building regulations.

  2. Good problem-solving abilities.

  3. Excellent communication and organization skills.

  4. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

  5. Public Notary a plus, but if the right applicant does not have it, we can facilitate them obtaining it.

Education/Experience

• High school diploma

• Experience in permitting of 2+ years locally in the greater Tampa Bay area.

• Any additional certifications related to permitting or code enforcement will be considered an advantage.
