  • Base Salary, HEO 7 $108,557 โ€“ 118,267 p.a. + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The Australian Centre for Robotics (ACFR) are looking to appoint 2 x Senior Software Engineer s to join the team. This role is expected to utilise training, specialised technical expertise and scientific knowledge to contribute to the development, testing and deployment of ground and/or airborne robotics and related systems, with a particular focus on software systems design.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be required to design, deploy and manage research & development (R&D) software projects in field robotic applications, and engage with industry partners and the public. You will provide software engineering design and assist the team lead and project manager in the planning of technical tasks, management of associated risks, conducting field trials and technical report writing.

There will be an expected requirement for occasional travel to rural areas within NSW and/or interstate supporting fieldwork operations in this role.

About you

  • tertiary qualifications in Computer, Electrical or Mechatronics engineering (or equivalent) together with relevant training and experience
  • experience with machine learning (ML), processing data from various forms like point cloud & images, as well as path planning & optimisation will be considered a great plus
  • experience working with and writing software for Linux systems and/or Robot Operating System (ROS) framework
  • ability and willingness to solve problems โ€œin the fieldโ€ and cooperate/help team members in non-software issues for achieving field objectives
  • exceptional skills in programming languages mainly C++, Python, bash and Matlab with at least 3 yearsโ€™ software development experience
  • a sound knowledge and experience in developing multi-threaded and/or multi-process applications as well as thorough understanding of object-oriented design
  • experience in writing graphical user interfaces and/or knowledge of Mavenlink framework (desirable).
