Job Description:

(This is a grant-funded, non-tenure track position through 09/30/2025. Funding must be available for any continuation of appointment.)

Work Location: This position is based out of the LSU AgCenter’s Red River Research Station located in Bossier City of Bossier Parish, LA.

Position Description: We are seeking a postdoctoral scholar for multiple projects studying conservation management practices and soil health/ agroecosystem functions. The postdoc will conduct field-based research and data analysis to link soil health practices and agricultural production.

This position includes collaboration with USDA-ARS partners. The ideal candidate would have strong skills for field-based research and data analysis, and interest in applied research. This position is based at the LSU AgCenter Red River Research Station but may need to travel to USDA-ARS units for experiment. This is a 12-month appointment with the possibility of extension based on funding and performance.

The individual will be expected to perform a variety of duties as a research associate at the Red River Research Station. Current projects would require the successful applicant to cooperate with various personnel of the Red River Research Station and related units in joint tasks when deemed necessary_._

Qualification Requirements:

(1) Ph.D. in soil science, agronomy or closely related discipline at the time of hire

(2) Experience with field-based research

(3) Strong statistical analysis skills

(4) Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

(5) Good communication skills as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.

Position Requirements:

(1) Physical ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

(2) A valid driver’s license.

Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options. Current benefits offered include retirement, multiple medical insurance options, supplemental insurances (dental, life, long-term disability, accident, vision, long-term care, etc.), Tax Saver Flexible Benefits Plan (saves tax dollars on some child care and medical expenses), university holidays (14 per year, typically includes a week off at Christmas), generous annual (vacation) and sick leave benefits, Employee Assistance Program, and possible educational leave and tuition exemption for coursework at campuses of the LSU System.
