About the opportunity

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) are currently seeking an Operation Officer to provide operational technology support to staff. Joining a newly created team, you will provide support, assistance, and advice on hardware and software assets required to support teaching, research, including procurement, installation, disposal and accurate record keeping. This role will work closely with colleagues from across the Faculty, Schools and Professional Services Units including Information Communications Technology, Central Operations Services, Infrastructure, Financial Services, and Safety to achieve faculty outcomes.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • oversees the Faculty’s hardware assets ensuring that research, learning and teaching requirements are able to be met effectively, including the purchasing, installation and disposal of assets
  • maintains the assets register and undertakes annual asset verifications ensuring all assets are appropriately registered and accounted for
  • provides software advice and support, and assistance to Faculty staff
  • contribute to continuous improvement and adoption of new initiatives and processes across the Faculty

About you

  • high level of computer skills and advanced skills in the Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • highly developed customer service and project management skills with demonstrated ability to delivery within project timelines and improve service outcomes.
  • excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • displays proactive approach to continuous improvement initiatives, driving transactional and service-oriented improvements using automation, technology, process enhancement and innovative solutions
  • you work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work.
