About the opportunity

We are inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the John and Anne Chong Lab for Functional Genomics lead by Associate Professor Greg Neely. The position will be based within the Charles Perkins Centre at University of Sydney, a rich academic environment focused on a multidisciplinary approach to improving human health as we age.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • the successful candidate will both drive new creative projects and help finish and publish existing research projects ongoing in the lab
  • the successful candidate will apply various model systems in the lab, including mice, and human stem cells or stem cell-derived organoids combined with high throughput or candidate genome editing
  • develop new mRNA medicines for diseases of the nervous system.

About you

  • a recent PhD in Biomedical Research (or a closely-related discipline)
  • a strong publication record (essential)
  • extensive experience with molecular biology or mouse genetics
  • Cell culture experience optimally with human or mouse embryonic stem cells
  • experience with the field of epigenetics and its regulation of development or disease
  • experience in writing and publishing peer-reviewed articles, preparing and delivering oral research presentations
  • confident ability to work independently to design appropriate experiments addressing the underlying research question.
