About the opportunity

Located at our Camperdown/Darlington campus, the Digital Technology Officer, Video (DTO Video) provides expert technical support pertaining to video within the School of Art, Communication & English (SACE).

Working alongside academics and other media specialists, this role provides expert advice and assists in implementing innovative solutions to maintain the high quality of the School’s teaching and research programs.

The role requires professional expertise in the end-to-end provision of video services (shoot, edit, deliver), as well as a well-developed understanding of broadcast television studio practice, video journalism and evolving practices in online video streaming content.

About you

  • demonstrated specialist experience in one or more of the following: camera operation in studio and broadcast, film and video lighting, producing, floor management, rigging, electrics, camera support (grips), other specialised studio roles
  • significant experience in one or more of the following: digital video production, broadcast television, studio operations
  • demonstrated capacity for initiative, innovation and creative problem solving
  • demonstrated experience in front line minor repair and maintenance of infrastructure and equipment; including lighting, camera support and peripherals
  • highly developed IT skills as pertains to video production - including NLE software and edit packages, broadcast studio installations and networking
  • highly developed video production skills – including pre-production, lighting, camera operation, editing, post-production and studio operations
  • ability to work independently as well as part of a team; a client-centred approach with the ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders to achieve the best outcomes for all.

Sponsorship is not available for this position. Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the reasons for the position.
