The job of an academic is challenging and meaningful. There will be opportunities to develop the curriculum, introduce new subject matter as well as be involved in consultancy and other applied research projects. Administrative work related to teaching and driving school/institutional strategic initiatives will be an important aspect of the job. You are expected to be self-motivated, resourceful, creative, innovative, and especially team-oriented with good initiative and positive mindset.

The Media, Arts & Design (MAD) School is looking for an experienced specialist able to bring knowledge and skills in the areas of concept design, 2D/3D animation, and 3D art to be part of our teaching team as a lecturer.

The appointee must be able to teach one or more of the following areas:
- Drawing, Anatomy & Proportions
- UI Design
- 2D animation & 3D animation
- 3D modelling & texturing
- Previz/Game level design in any game engine

[What you will be working on]

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct lessons and develop teaching materials for young and adult learners in the areas of Game Art and Design (e.g. drawing, concept art, proportions, UI design, 2D game animation, 3D game animation, 3D modeling, Unreal Engine).
  • Inspire, facilitate and guide students through different learning pedagogies and activities.
  • Coordinate and supervise in-house/industry students' interactive application assignments/projects and provide pastoral care for students’ learning needs.
  • Provide administrative support in the running of the diploma specialisation course/track and general school operations.
  • Assist in the management and delivery of training programmes e.g. enrichment programme for secondary school students or continue education programme for adult learners.

[What we are looking for]

Requirements:

  • Team player is a must, open-mindset and ready to work in a team setting to take on new challenges.
  • At least 1.5 years' relevant work experience in games and/or animation production.
  • Strong eye for aesthetics: imagery, animations, colour palettes, motion and behaviour.
  • Working knowledge in augmented and virtual environments, mixed reality applications, immersive and altered environments and/or UI/UX design and interaction design is advantageous.
  • Experience in the following areas will be a plus:
    • 2D and/or 3D animation
    • Anatomy, proportions and concept art
    • Real-time technology (Unreal/Unity)
    • Game design
  • Teaching/training experience will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Successful candidate will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
