Satellite & Space Systems Engineer (m/f/o) – Space Industry Luxembourg

A Systems Engineer is required to participate in the design of our next generation small / micro satellites. The successful candidate’s knowledge of space systems, subsystems and equipment shall be applied for definition, coordination and implementation of all relevant tasks leading to the successful development of the LuxSpace small / micro satellite product line.

Typical Tasks include:

• Participate in, and contribute to the development and qualification of a challenging small / micro satellite in a medium-sized technical team
• Define and manage requirements for and support verification of satellite's electrical, on-board data handling, AOCS, and/or EGSE subsystems
• Perform satellite functional analysis and design trade-offs
• Manage satellite internal interfaces
• Manage satellite external interfaces (payload, launcher) towards potential customers
• Lead System HW / SW integration activities
• Support satellite AIT (hands-on) and perform verification activities
• Support preparation of proposals to potential customers
• Other tasks and duties assigned by manager(s)
• Temporarily or permanently performing other reasonable and equivalent duties

Requirements

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Experience in system engineering (3y+), gained in a professional position, preferably in the space industry with focus on small / micro satellites
• University degree (Bachelor/Master/Diploma) or equivalent education, plus relevant proven work experience
• Strong knowledge of systems engineering, including requirements engineering, functional analysis, verification control
• Strong knowledge of space mission and satellite engineering, including orbital dynamics, space environment, space operations and satellite testing
• Experience in satellite and/or sub-system requirements engineering
• Experience in technical management of sub-systems

Experience in the following fields is considered an asset:

• Space radiation environment and radiation's impact on satellite design and verification
• Electrical and power, avionics (on-board data handling), AOCS, EGSE Satellite verification, including hand-on testing (flatsat and flight unit)
• Knowledge of DOORS, STK (or similar), UML/SysML
• Knowledge of SCOS is considered
• Experience with Earth-observation optical missions
• Positive spirit to work and interface with a multinational team

• Excellent problem-solving, solutions-oriented skills
• Internal and external customer-oriented thinking approach
• Readiness to travel for business if needed
