Purpose:

The RTM Lead role is a customer facing, field-based role, reporting into the Metabolic Business Unit Director. As RTM Lead you will take ownership of high quality in-field execution of pre- and post-launch marketing plans, brand messaging, and prioritized tactics for Lilly’s Diabetes & Obesity pipeline. This role involves leading a team of Regional Therapeutic Managers (RTMs) who are customer facing roles, based in field across North and East region of India. RTM Lead will be accountable for the overall performance through effective development and coaching of assigned RTMs, and by providing strategic direction to the team of RTMs in close collaboration with central marketing teams and Sales Director of Metabolic BU. This role will also require close collaboration with wider cross-functional teams both in the head office and the field.

Primary Responsibilities:

Field implementation of Marketing Strategies/Tactics

The RTM Lead will be the owner of high-quality execution of brand marketing strategy, messaging, and tactics in assigned region through a team of Regional Therapeutic Managers (RTMs). This role will be an integral part of the marketing strategy development process in alignment with central Marketing Teams and their subsequent on ground execution including Omnichannel tactics (email marketing, SOA, Independent Meetings etc.). This role will be pivotal in achieving Lilly’s business objectives by delivering innovative solutions that create value and resonate with healthcare professionals and enhance patient outcomes.

Cross Functional Leadership

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute marketing tactics and actions. Become an integral part of the cross-functional Metabolic Team: Help to shape the culture and success of the Metabolic Business Unit in 2024 and beyond. Serve as a bridge between sales, marketing, market access and medical teams to optimize customer experience. Collaborating with the DSMs and Sales Director to seek their support for local speaker coordination, and execution of marketing events. Participate in key internal meetings to contribute to brand strategy development.

People Leadership

The RTM Lead will have direct supervisory responsibility for the Regional Therapeutic Managers (RTMs). The RTM Lead will attract, coach, and develop talent to perform to their highest potential. At least monthly interactions with all direct reports and with other key cross functional stakeholders within and outside of marketing function is required. Develop and strengthen skills of RTMs through joint field visits at regular intervals. Attendance at marketing meetings involving HCPs to ensure overall effectiveness of the team. Oversee the recruitment strategy and staffing as well as assure the standards of disease area and product knowledge for RTMs are maintained. Finally, the RTM Lead will actively participate in succession planning and talent development.

Ensure Execution Excellence

Contribute to development and execution of Customer Plan/Operational Plan, both within the marketing team but also with cross-functional partners including sales and Omnichannel teams. Create and drive positive customer experiences, building customer trust over time with true value-added service and support and establish a culture of measurement, learning and rapidly adjusting across all functional customer touchpoints. Local independent congress symposium management. Partner and co-create with the sales team in the development of local and international speaker tours. In partnership with the cross functional team, develop and execute the Metabolic BU, P2P plan. This is to be done with a mindset of: right customers, right message, right speaker, in the right account at the right time. Track and monitor performance: in line with key milestones and adjust course in a timely and assertive manner if necessary to be on track for success. Acquire and maintain comprehensive knowledge of disease states, products, and competitors. Work with Integrity: ensure adherence to all local and company compliance policy and process. Ensure all materials and initiatives are aligned to Good Promotional Practices.

Minimum Qualification:

  • University degree, prefer graduate degree in science and/or business (MBA is a plus)

  • Pharmaceutical marketing experience (2-5 years of experience)

  • Demonstrated experience in pharma sales, sales leadership, and marketing.

  • Demonstrated coaching and people development skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Prefer experience in pre-commercialization preparation and launch implementation.
