Front-End Developer

Hush is looking for a Front-End Developer who will play an integral role in delivering an exceptional online experience for our customers. In this role, you will be responsible for developing a complete front-end overhaul of our website, as well as managing and optimizing the rebuild post-launch. This role requires a combination of programming skills (Liquid, HTML5, CSS3,JavaScript) and an understanding of Shopify’s ecosystem, as Hush is housed full-stack on Shopify.

ideas, and can be highly adaptable in a fast-paced environment. You thrive in collaboration, and enjoy working within various cross-functional teams. You will work closely with our design and product teams to implement new features, optimize performance, and ensure the smooth operation of our Shopify stores.

This is role works in a hybrid model of remote and in-person collaboration out of our corporate offices located at 21 Camden Street. Toronto, Ontario.

What Success looks like during:

First 6 Months

• Lead the development efforts on a complete front-end overhaul of our current site

• Write high quality code to bring to life new UX/UI designed by a third party agency

• Advocate for Hush’s development needs to our selected agency during the design phase of the rebuild

• Make high-level decisions by weighing options between code quality, issues, and timely code releases

• Arbitrate the release process to ensure all perspectives are considered when releasing code to production

• Complete comprehensive testing of the new build in anticipation of deployment

• Deploy the rebuild, including a post-launch hypercare period for any potential bugs.

After the Redesign

• Maintain the redesigned Shopify storefront and responsive front-end experiences, through quality, clean code.
• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to accurately describe issues to the ecommerce team and other stakeholders.
• Collaborate with designers and product managers to translate UI/UX design
• wireframes into responsive, interactive features.
• Develop custom functionality and features to enhance the user experience.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues reported by stakeholders. Provide technical guidance and support to supplementary development support as needed.
• Lead code reviews to ensure it meets industry standards, is valid, is properly structured, and is compatible with browsers, devices, or operating systems.
• Manage and build seamless integrations to third party systems and test plugins.
• Maintain an understanding of the latest Web applications and programming practices through education, study, and participation in conferences, workshops, and groups.

Requirements

Qualifications we like to see:

• Minimum 2-3 years of industry experience (Experience in a start-up environment is a major plus!).
• Possess knowledge and experience with the Shopify eCommerce platform.
• Must have experience with Liquid Syntax, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS.
• Must have experience working with design deliverables/assets (Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.).
• Knowledge about AODA requirements for the web.
• Understanding of version control systems and how to operate within them as an individual and team member.
