Summary: The objective of this work is to provide Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) and limited non-A&AS support and expertise to assist the Standoff Munitions Application Center (SMAC) component of Joint-Global Strike Operations Center (J-GSOC) forces at Barksdale AFB, LA, along with other areas/locations CONUS and OCONUS, including deployed locations.

This position is anticipated to start September 12th, 2024.

Job Description

Conduct installation, maintenance, and security support for all mission planning hardware and software including the following:

  • Plan and coordinate with System Support Specialist/Client Systems Technician for all hardware related problems.
  • Provide all system inventories to Client System Technician who provide the inventory to the government.
  • Obtain and maintain all mission planning related software including any required authorities to operate (ATOs).
  • Coordinate with DoD and service agencies to ensure the currency and interoperability of planning software with all supported platforms.
  • Research, recommend, obtain, install, and maintain hardware and software as specified by the Government. Provide all price quotes and timeframe to government reps.
  • Provide SME support\training of mission planning software for government and contract customers. Maintain all software documentation on share drive/SharePoint database.
  • Test and evaluate current and proposed equipment and software enhancement and advises management regarding acquisition proposals designed to enhance mission accomplishment through automation.
  • Develop standard procedures for account establishment, system maintenance, and system recovery.
  • Perform testing, troubleshoot, and correct complex or unusual problems involving interface and interoperability of system components such as hardware, systems software, and applications programs.
  • Manage installation of system patches and enhancements/updates and ensures system integrity is not compromised.
  • Ensure maintenance and upgrade procedures are established in such a way as to minimize disruption to normal business functions of organizations within the installation. This includes ensuring scheduled backups of servers and the application of upgrades or system patches will have minimum impact.
  • Provide proactive consultation and instruction with system users to ensure seamless implementation of changes.

Qualifications and Certifications

  • Must maintain a TS-SCI Clearance.
  • Associate's degree or higher in Technology-, Engineering-, or Computer- Information-Systems related field
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience in the Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC) 3D1X /3D0X, or an equivalent field. Note: Education requirement can be waived if the personnel has more than ten years of experience and it would benefit SMAC.
  • Demonstrated relevant experience with and proficiency in installing, maintaining, updating, troubleshooting and testing Joint Mission Planning System (JMPS) software.
  • Demonstrated relevant experience with and operational knowledge of software design principles, methodologies and approaches used in developing, coding, testing, debugging and maintaining software applications.
  • Demonstrated relevant experience with the MS Windows and Linux environments including registry, batch files and group policy updates for patches.
  • Demonstrated relevant experience with the MS Windows Server and Linux environments, managing client accounts through the server environment and building and configuring domain controllers.
  • Demonstrated experience with installing, maintaining, and modifying computer and network systems and advising as to new system needs based on mission requirements.
  • Demonstrated relevant experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and configuring Network Appliances, Windows Servers and Virtual Desktops.
  • Must have Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification pursuant to DODI 8570.01 at time of commencement of work and maintain throughout employment.
  • Demonstrated experience with or operational knowledge of systems integration methods, performance tuning methods, test and evaluation methods and procedures, IT security principles and methods and project management principles and methods sufficient to plan and coordinate the installation of new products and equipment.
