Head of Operations, Global Specialties

As the Head of Operations, you will be accountable for the efficient and effective operational leadership across Global Specialties. You will be responsible for Global Specialties operational strategy and execution driving consistency and best practice across the business. Your organisational savvy will allow you to navigate a large matrix organization and partner with key stakeholders across business functions including Legal & Compliance, HR, Finance and IT.

  • You will ensure operations across Global Specialties are fit for purpose and future-proofed, enabling us to adopt new ways of working in response to changing client and market needs.

We will count on you to:

  • Lead Operations in Global Specialties to deliver and execute on operational plans and objectives to achieve Guy Carpenter’s operational goals.
  • Drive the continuous improvement of processes, execute process changes to support achieving strategic objectives, drive best practice and improve quality and service delivery.
  • Agree, implement and monitor consistent operational KPIs for Global Specialties and other key performance indicators – and communicates/reports results to key stakeholders.
  • Develop robust and timely management information that will draw out problems for management and the wider leaders.
  • Ensure the businesses has the right operational structure and framework that supports the businesses growth and evolution. The primary point of contact for all operational matters impacting Global Specialities for the GC Group.
  • Manage a strong, collaborative relationship with internal stakeholders, the key ones being CSS, BSS, Finance and the business. Work closely with the Head of Analytical Strategy and other key stakeholders around strategic change.
  • In conjunction with the wider GC UK stakeholders, ensure the business has best in class governance and oversight of its practices.
  • Roll out and embed an internal QA process for the business and ensure common themes are being communicated with appropriate resolutions put into practice.
  • Continue to build on the Guy Carpenter Excellence framework ensuring all processes and tools are aligned and comply with Professional Standards.
  • Adhere to the governance requirements for GC and Global Specialties.

What you need to have:

  • Experience working in highly regulated environments (i.e. FCA in London).
  • Experience of leading or significantly influencing the development of a new operating model.
  • Experience leading and driving process transformation / improvement at scale.
  • Ability to build and manage strong relationships with internal stakeholders throughout all levels of the organisation.
  • Strong leader with effective communication and influencing skills. Transformative in thinking and practical in execution.
  • Good understanding of operational excellence with the ability to coach colleagues to implement strategies and manage change. Demonstrable knowledge of local market practices within the regulatory environment.
  • Experience in a large, complex global organisation.
  • Desire to succeed in a demanding, innovative, and entrepreneurial environment.

What makes you stand out:

  • Reinsurance or Financial market (knowledge of technical/functional insurance and reinsurance concepts) experience is desirable.
  • Evidence of innovating and driving ongoing process improvements.
  • Self-starter with a track record of seamless execution of complex projects with minimal guidance.
  • Detail-oriented strategic thinker with analytical problem-solving capabilities and thrives in ambiguity.
  • Highly organised and comfortable with creating structure, presentations, and workflows.
  • Ability to learn quickly and maintain a high-performance level in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
