POSITION SUMMARY

The Commercial Analytics & AI (CAAI) China team is responsible for the delivery of services that require secondary data analysis across business units (BU) to provide strategic recommendations on performance review, brand planning, operation planning, promotional resource allocation, field force sizing, segmentation/targeting, structural decisions, and digital strategies, etc. The team delivers the services by leveraging the central expertise and existing tools, or by building simple to intermediate analysis locally.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Perform data cleaning and data integration (Internal and external sources) for the commercial analysis.
  • Analyze and present data to get a clear understanding of current market competition dynamics, business performance and trends across multiple perspectives including, but not limited to market share, patient share, sales achievement, hospital listing progress and CFC activities, etc.
  • Design, implement and maintain reports (tools and performance dashboards, cockpits) both for BU level and country level performance review to receive consistent updates.
  • Support CAAI TA leads involving promotion responses/ROI, resource allocation, sales analytics, and reporting, digital/ Go-To-Market (GTM) strategies, segmentation, targeting, competitive analysis based on rigorous analysis of secondary data.
  • Utilize statistical and data visualization software, spreadsheets and relational databases to complete analysis as needed.
  • Work with BU-aligned CAAI colleagues to identify the most cost-effective analytic approaches using primary market research, secondary data analytics or a combination of multiple sources to aid in decision making.
  • Cultivate strong relationship with CAAI TA leads, Data science team and CAAI colleagues from other regions, leveraging best analytic practices and integrating them with specific needs of China commercial team.
  • Partner and interact with CAAI colleagues and Data Science team to ensure that relevant inputs such as key marketing and sales events and data, and data processing requirements are properly captured and fed to the models.
  • Implement standardized tools, methodologies, and capabilities in the markets.
  • Analyze information in order to conceptualize and define problems.
  • Collaborate with senior managers and decision-makers to identify and solve a variety of problems, and to clarify management objectives.
  • Define data requirements, gather and validate information, and apply judgment and statistical tests.
  • Prepare management reports defining and evaluating problems and recommending solutions.
  • Design, conduct, and evaluate experimental operational models in cases where models cannot be developed from existing data.

RESOURCES MANAGED

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education: Bachelor’s degree required, Masters in analytic discipline/pharmacology/medicine preferred,

Qualifications / Experience:

  • 3 years analytics experience
  • At least 3 years’ experience in pharmaceutical/biotech industry
  • Thorough understanding of Pharmaceutical marketing and sales processes including the development of the op plan
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to develop and execute creative solutions
  • Ability to understand and communicate business challenges, issues and events, and effectively incorporate that knowledge in the analyses and recommendations
  • Working knowledge of developing analytic models, primary/secondary market research, data reporting and commercial analytics tools
  • Experience analyzing large amounts of data.
  • Ability to understand/interpret/integrate raw outputs from various econometric and statistical models; ability to integrate and synthesize separate concepts
  • Ability to work closely with senior management, providing business insights, challenging their thinking, and managing their expectations.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Significant hands-on experience analyzing large pharmaceutical secondary datasets (sub national level, payer, patient / longitudinal, call activity)
  • Fluency in English is preferable

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidates should have strong quantitative and computer skills; employers prefer workers who have completed advanced math courses including statistics, forecasting, mathematical programming etc;
  • Individuals with a master's degree in operations research or management science should have excellent employment prospects; entry-level positions are available to those with a bachelor’s degree;
  • Two years’ of modeling experience in pharmaceutical industry is preferrable;
  • Proficient in Excel, Power Point and preferable with visualization tool using experience such as Tableau
  • Good command of English both in oral and written.

Physical location: Beijing/Shanghai
