Monotype is looking for a business-focused data owner and strong leader to own our inventory data end-to-end. In this role, you will also be responsible for our inventory processes and systems as well as inventory data governance by driving incremental improvements to the data, systems, and processes to create a solid foundation for growth at Monotype. You will also be responsible for PIM (Product Information Management) & inventory data roadmaps that include driving the existing business, new technical features, and operational changes (i.e., data cleanup, repository overhauls, new process implementations, new dashboards, integration of new data from acquisitions, etc.). Your work will help teams at Monotype do things more efficiently and well. This role and our inventory are so foundational that the improvements you drive will be felt in the daily lives of employees and partners.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Own the inventory data catalog and related meta-data quality with regards to definition, identity, completeness, accuracy, consistency, uniqueness, confidentiality, integrity, validity, auditability, precision, reliability, conformity, security, and access rights in the PIM.

  • Lead a diverse, global team including the Product Manager of the PIM, Operators & Analysts, supporting them in driving initiatives by executing data changes, establishing data reporting, fixing data issues in the PIM, supporting business units, developing new integrations to support new business lines, etc. Ensure work is done to a high-quality standard.

  • Serve as the inventory data subject matter expert with multiple stakeholders to drive a strong understanding of the data and its use across lines of business and functions.

  • Define end-to-end inventory data flows, including all upstream and downstream areas that create, ingest, and/or consume inventory data to support data quality assurance and remediation efforts.

  • Regularly provide succinct, timely, & action-focused status updates to management and stakeholders to drive decision-making and actions.

  • Develop, document, and communicate Inventory Data Governance strategy and policy in a concise and clear way to different levels of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Lead and drive organizational change in Data Governance awareness and practices.

  • Project manage the Data Governance roadmap. Able to prioritize, set deliverables and timelines, and escalate as needed.

  • Create reporting and metrics on around Data Governance progress.

  • Gather, coordinate, document, and translate data requirements between inventory consumers and providers aligned with inventory data standards.

  • Monitor metrics and key performance indicators associated with Inventory Data Quality, Accessibility, Security, and Controls.

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for Monotype’s and our foundry’s reputation by driving compliance with applicable rules, laws, regulations, contracts, company policies, applying sound ethical judgement regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices and escalating managing and reporting control issues with transparency. Collaborate closely with our legal team. Think proactively.

  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment, reduce silos, and drive change management by developing a network of peers through regular 1:1s, working sessions, establishing RACIs.

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience8-10 years of relevant business-focused data governance and master data management experience.

  • Experience with PIM systems and owning product data. Experience with Precisely EnterWorks or similar PIM/Master Data Management solutions (Akeneo, PimCore, Syndigo) a plus.

  • Experience creating, executing & maintaining an end-to-end supplier/master data management strategy and roadmap for a complex, matrixed organization.

  • Strong understanding of data governance issues, policies, contractual and regulatory requirements, roles and responsibilities, and industry information affecting Monotype.

  • Expertise in all aspects of Data Management, including Data Analysis, Process mapping, Data Lineage, Metadata, Data Quality, Data Profiling, Data Remediation, Issue Management, and Supplier Change Management.

  • Familiarity with ETL jobs and APIs.

  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills to create complex data flow and designs.

  • Empathetic communicator and cross-functional collaborator with solution-oriented mindset; strong presentation & business and technical writing skills.

  • Proven experience building and leading a global team, identifying gaps in expertise and developing team members to their potential. People like working with and for you.

  • Self-motivated, independent, and able to dynamically determine priorities and lead change management across an organization. You have gusto & gravitas!
