The Team

The Finance department is structured around four essential pillars: accounting & reporting, financial planning, strategic finance, and finance operations. This role is a part of the finance operations sub-team - Finance Data.

The primary responsibility is to uphold the company's financial health by ensuring the exposure of complete and accurate financial data. Additionally, the role involves developing reporting processes aimed at driving cost optimization and fostering strategic decision-making.

The Finance Data team takes pride in its deep understanding of the finance domain and robust data processing skills, emphasizing precision and attention to detail. This combination allows us to stay flexible and consistently deliver accurate results, providing significant value to the company.

The Role

Join us as a Data Steward, where your meticulous attention to finance data ensures the availability, completeness, and accuracy of essential information. Your primary focus will be on establishing efficient data retrieval processes and ensuring the highest quality of source data. You will be responsible for gathering all relevant financial data, ensuring its accuracy and prompt availability. A key part of your role will be developing and maintaining a robust data quality monitoring system, and conducting business tests to identify and resolve any issues.

You will collaborate with the data platform to optimize data processes and resource efficiency, ensuring our data infrastructure supports the company’s strategic goals. While you will engage in some analysis and dashboard work, your main responsibility is to uphold the integrity and reliability of our financial data. Additionally, a strong understanding of data modeling will help you structure and organize data effectively, supporting the overall data management strategy.

Your responsibilities

  • Maintain the accuracy of finance data in the data warehouse by developing and maintaining a robust data quality monitoring system, driving the resolution of identified errors.

  • Develop source data tables for finance reporting needs and design scalable data models that facilitate accurate and insightful decision-making.
  • Drive company-wide data accessibility by advocating for self-service data usage and utilizing BI tools such as Looker to empower teams with actionable insights.
  • Keep processes organized and well-documented, contributing to process improvements and ensuring efficiency, particularly during month-end closing activities.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration by ensuring effective communication and alignment between finance and data teams, supporting seamless integration and cooperation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of practical experience in data management, data stewardship, or a related field.
  • Intermediate proficiency in SQL, with hands-on experience in establishing data retrieval processes, maintaining data accuracy, and working with data warehouses (such as Snowflake) to ensure data is properly stored, managed, and retrieved.
  • Strong organizational skills with experience in process documentation and improvement, along with a basic understanding of data governance principles and best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven experience with data quality monitoring systems, and business tests. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues promptly, ensuring data integrity and quality assurance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in building and maintaining data ETL pipelines, demonstrating a strong understanding of data integration and optimization processes.
  • Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools (such as Looker) and experience in creating dashboards and reports is a plus, but not critical.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direction, including the capability to design, gather requirements, and develop data and reporting models.
  • Experience with scripting languages (such as Python) for data manipulation and automation of data processes, and version control systems (such as Git) for managing changes in data scripts and workflows.
