Safety Test Engineer

Re:Car dba SLATE, is a new US company that is exploring development in the electric vehicle space.

Who we are looking for:

The Safety Test Engineer will support and coordinate all activities related to physical vehicle safety testing. Lead the coordination of the various safety tests, ensuring that test slots are being reserved, and test assets are at the right lab in the right condition. If vehicles need to be retrofitted or rebuilt for a test, coordinate the technicians and the logistics for the required parts. Relationship building with suitable test labs and the development of test plans are further tasks this engineer will be responsible for. Ensuring proper data quality and format for the various data customers will be vital for this role.

What you get to do:

• Writing of testing related RFQs; sourcing of suitable labs & fabricators

• Coordinating fabrication of bucks, fixtures etc.

• Coordinating test slots and logistics around test assets

• Coordinating ReCar support at the test lab

• Supporting testing onsite to ensure the required data will be collected (instrumentation of test samples, vehicles, dummies)

• Coordinating availability of hardware/test fixtures at the right lab at the right point in time

• Ensuring test data is being made available to all data customers within ReCar in the right format and data quality (data integrity check)

• Supporting of vehicle build & retrofit at the test lab

• Managing of post-crash test assets (storage, recycling)

What you bring to the team:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or equivalent
• 2-5 years of relevant experience in safety testing
• Good understanding of FMVSS, IIHS and US-NCAP passive safety test procedures
• Good understanding of test instrumentation and crash data processing
• Experience with sled and vehicle crash testing
• Strong communication skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Willingness to travel up to 50% - exact extent will be discussed during interview
