This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration heavy-lift launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to Earth’s orbit and beyond. Engineered with a reusable first stage and a seven-meter payload fairing, New Glenn is building the road to space.

The New Glenn launch vehicle is the next step in achieving this vision using a reusable launch system crafted to take astronauts and payloads into space. As an Operations Training Engineer, and direction from the Training Manager, you will implement the training program through strong leadership, management skills and resourcefulness, integral to a hard-working team responsible for leading, developing and training launch, ground and test operations crews. Top candidates require strong drive, attention to detail, organization, working long hours, and the ability to multi-task. We are looking for leaders with “Greater than Self” perspective and “Extreme Ownership”. The position operates primarily from our Orbital Launch Site at Launch Complex 36 in Cape Canaveral, FL.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Define, develop, and execute training for the engineers and technicians responsible for preparing and maintaining the New Glenn launch vehicle, launch site infrastructure, and ground equipment (working closely with subject matter experts). Training modalities will include on-the-job training, hands-on training with mockup, simulations, and classroom training
  • Develop specialty courses of instruction for identified needs; working with a wide variety of individuals while researching courses
  • Develop maintenance manuals and other technical documents to support training and operations

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in defining, developing, validating, and implementing technical training for engineers and technicians working in a high technology, safety critical operational environment
  • Experience writing technical training course materials (lesson objective and plans, evaluation criteria, hands-on training activities)
  • Experience authoring training plans, maintenance and operations manuals, and other technical documents
  • Engineering and/or operational experience with complex aerospace systems such as hydraulics, avionics, propulsion, cryogenics, life support systems, or high pressure pneumatics
  • Self-starter with strong coordination and project management skills. Able to initiate, track, manage and prioritize multiple simultaneous tasks and jobs
  • Experience in technical training materials and understanding of all training modalities to include OJT, Computer based and Instructor Led
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Leading and/or working with a diverse multi-disciplinary team and building strong working relationships within the organization and across multiple groups
  • Critical thinker with innovative problem-solving skills
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
  • Pass a background check to acquire and maintain an access badge for Cape Canaveral SFS, FL

Preferred Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Engineering, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Previous experience as a Maintenance or Test Engineer in aerospace, oil and gas, automotive, nuclear energy, or a similar high-tech, safety critical environment
  • Hands-on experience with hazardous testing with a strong safety record
  • Excellent computer skills with the ability to learn flight hardware/scripting procedures and associated tools, including the ability to rapidly learn and apply new software tools as required
