Engineering Manager

The Sheets team is building a new spreadsheet product that is capable of drawing data directly from our platform, allowing users to perform complicated data analysis and unlock valuable insights from their data. We are looking for a talented Engineering Manager to help lead and grow the team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a product in early stages, with ample opportunity to make an impact through adept people management and technical guidance.

What You’ll Do:

• Manage and grow the Sheets team, taking on 6 (and counting) direct reports. Facilitate growth and development of your people, aligning opportunities and potential
• Be technically involved with the team - reviewing architecture decisions or RFCs to make sure the team is making sound decisions and good processes are in place.
• Learn the landscape of relevant internal teams, building relationships where needed. Use your knowledge of internal platforms to shape architectural decisions and identify partnership opportunities
• Drive the team’s roadmap including Quarterly OKRs. Provide relevant visibility to the team and to internal stakeholders
• Run and optimize team processes, ensuring the successful delivery of high quality work

Who You Are:

• You have proven experience managing teams of 6+ engineers with a broad range of seniority
• You enjoy working on early-stage projects with fast iteration cycles and can coach the team on how to do it too
• You have a strong technical background in backend software development and a familiarity with frontend development.
• You have experience scaling services and ensuring operational excellence
• You excel at resolving ambiguity, managing stakeholders, and providing clear direction for your team and projects

Datadog offers a competitive salary and equity package, and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
