Primary Function/Purpose :

As the AD of NPP and Mkt Research at Lilly China, this person will be responsible for leading the new product planning and market research team for one of our business unit (BMBU). S/he will be responsible for ensuring effective partnership with the corresponding BU and that all NPP and market research projects are implemented with excellence. The key deliverables of the NPP & Market Research Departments include new asset evaluation and strategy design, new product launch preparation, and brand health and performance tracking. The role is a player/coach role. The expectation is that this person will take ownership of some critical strategic tasks such as strategic plan, priority new brand development, and therapeutic area strategy updates. In addition to the project-based work, this individual will be responsible for integration with the local and global and IBU key stakeholders. This position will also include key leadership responsibilities in hiring, developing and retaining talent. The position reports to the Sr. Director of NPP&MR.

Key Responsibilities :

Asset Evaluation and Strategy Design

  • Conduct initial assessment of whether we should launch a product in China and why using syndicated reports and desktop research
  • Assessments of global portfolio assets as well as incoming business development deals
  • Make solid assumptions and partner with forecasting to create business case and long range forecasts for new products

Launch Preparation

  • Conduct primary market research studies to understand the disease, competitive market understanding, and physician and patient insights
  • Before brand team formation, lead launch preparation and ensure a smooth transition to BU brand team 18~24 months prior to launch

Brand Health and Performance Tracking

  • Build and implement a market research learning plan to answer key questions for our marketed brands
  • Conduct brand tracking studies to understand performance of our current brands
  • Conduct qualitative research to improve our current customer solutions and understanding
  • Partner with the brand team to integrate customer insights and understanding into our brand planning process
  • Ensure all MR projects strictly follow Lilly compliance requirements
  • Appropriately divide projects based off of team members expertise and development areas
  • Lead monthly team small BU team meetings
  • Ensure appropriate coaching and development of team members

Strategic Projects

  • Lead and own BU strategic plan
  • Lead and own Therapeutic Area strategy updates
  • Own brand development for critical launch brands in your BU

Stakeholder Relationship and Management

  • Build effective relationship and partnership with key global and IBU stakeholders (market research, new product planning and forecasting leaders) for your BU
  • Build effective relationship and partnership with key local stakeholders clinical project management team, BU marketing directors and head to ensure team can effectively anticipate and meet key stakeholder needs
