FSQA Manager
Description:
This role is responsible for the development and maintenance of the food safety & quality assurance system for Bakehouse Bread products, overseeing company GMP and safety training, and maintaining SQF audit readiness.
Job Duties:
- Develops, implements, and manages programs to ensure products, staff, and vendors meet requirements of the company’s food safety and quality assurance program.
- Develop and maintain SOPs and record keeping system for quality assurance, maintenance, production, packaging, and shipping/receiving related activities which may have an impact on food safety.
- Performs verification and validation of sanitation programs including visual inspections, rapid ATP testing and microbial sampling as appropriate
- Conduct quality assurance & food safety inspections on the production floor throughout the day and periodic formal GMP audits covering Mixing, Depositing, Baking, Cooling, Depanning, Wrapping, Labeling/Coding, Metal detection, Finished Packaging, Sanitation, Shipping & Receiving, Coolers, and Freezers
- Lead Safety Committee and promote personnel safety through special programs (Shoes for crews) and training (Fall protection, Electrical Safety, Lock out/tag out, etc.)
- Manage shelf-life program including pulling frozen samples, monitoring samples until visual or other signs of end shelf life are observed, holding thawed samples and evaluating organoleptically, documenting observations appropriately and informing leadership of any instance where a product does not meet its stated shelf life
- Lead SQF certification activities including performing annual gap audit and making necessary modifications to the FSQA program
- Coordinates overall training needs and directs the training of new employees, those who change roles, and ongoing refresher training.
- Foster a Food Safety and Quality culture of proactivity, collaboration, informed decision- making, and education to support continuous improvement.

Job Requirements:
- Degree in food science, life sciences, or chemistry or 5 years’ experience with food safety and quality programs in manufacturing operations
- Food Safety Plan Development experience, PCQI and HACCP training
- Ability to work independently and in cross functional teams
- Ability to work with other Managers and employees to address challenges while exhibiting understanding, professionalism, and diplomacy
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
