About the Role

The Bilingual Content Officer focuses on developing core messaging and narratives to bring our organizational vision and priorities to life through storytelling thus encouraging people to engage in advocacy and donation.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Write and produce engaging content that builds trust and accurately communicates our work, impact, and organizational values
  • Support and maintain an integrated content calendar that defines audiences, editorial pillars, and channel mapping
  • Compose and produce digital content for the website, social media, fundraising campaigns, reports, and research and advocacy priorities
  • Engage with Food Bank Canada’s network across Canada to develop unique stories that illustrate local experiences by way of interviews (phone, email, video, etc.)
  • Develop content ideas and communication strategies in coordination with the communications team and other departments
  • Serves as the content lead for or to the Annual Report (Including gathering all data from multiple departments)
  • Write speeches for our CEO, Board of Directors, and senior leadership for fundraising and stakeholder events

What You Will Need

  • Completion of a post-secondary diploma or equivalent in communications, marketing, or journalism
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a communications or journalism
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is required
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to identify tone and style for effective messaging for diverse audiences, with attention to detail, phrasing, and word choice
  • Exceptional time and project management skills organized and task-oriented, with an ability to respond in a timely fashion to inquiries and team communications
  • Ability to work independently using strong initiative
  • Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team
  • Experience working with both internal and external teams at all levels from junior, to C suite, to external vendors and partners
  • Strong initiative, self-starter, ability to work with little supervision
  • Completion of an undergraduate degree or equivalent

Working Conditions

  • Full-time, Monday-Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work. This position is remote and can be located anywhere in Canada
  • Occasional travel within Canada may be required
