SUMMARY
The position requires knowledge of basic accounting principles and accounting functions. The individual will assist with inventory, cash management and balance reconciliations/bank statements.
Additional responsibilities include assisting with monthly closing, maintenance of accounting files, and preparation/organization of various financial forms, reports, and financial analyses, etc. This individual may be asked to assist with ad-hoc projects and general office support tasks when necessary.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (but not limited to).
- Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
- Assist with daily accounting functions.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, including sub-ledgers. Research any discrepancies and propose any necessary adjusting journal entries.
- Perform analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts to identify and investigate unusual fluctuations. Communicating results of analysis to senior management timely.
- Complete intercompany accounting transactions.
- Participate in the month end close process, ensuring timely and accurate close.
- Apply accounting principles and perform certain financial controls to ensure compliance with SOX procedures.
- Provide audit deliverables and communicates with the internal and external audit teams to determine implementation of best practices.
- Assist in administering lease accounting guidelines through coordination with Corporate Accounting, utilizing lease software application and communicating with plant and operations.
- Complete special projects and various reporting requests from key business partners including internal, divisional, and corporate teams.
Requirements
- Education
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Desired: Advanced degree in accounting/finance (MBA or Master’s) or certification (CPA/CMA).
- Experience
- At least three to four years of combined public accounting and corporate accounting experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with internal controls and SOX.
- Experience with ERP and Reporting software, preferably Oracle. Proficient in MS Office products, advanced Excell skills (V-lookup, Pivot Tables).
- Proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Work in a fast-paced environment and a rapid month end closing schedule.
