Accountant

The GOPA PACE teams are a group of highly driven professionals dedicated to achieving the greatest impact through our projects across geographies.As an accountant, you deal with the accounting activities related to projects accounting, general ledger, accounts payable and receivable.

You will work in an accountant’s team with 2 colleagues and in close relations with the Project Teams, the Implementation Support Team, the Controlling Team and report to the Head of Accounting.
You closely follow the regulations regarding accounting matters.
You monitor legal changes and take necessary steps to adjust internal procedures.
You make proposals to make the accounting processes more efficient

Key responsibilities
As an accountant, you take ownership of common responsibilities defined in and around accounting.

Accounting

• General accounting

• Accounts payable

• Accounts receivable

• Project accounting

• Monitoring of local cash accounts

• Liaise with Project Controllers and Implementation Support Unit (ISU)

• Participate in the IT Projects with regards to accounting matters in transition projects Reporting

• Ensure proper, accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and yearly closure of project financials with the Project Managers, Controllers and ISU team members.

• Report any potential operational issues you identify and discuss them with the Controllers and Finance Director in a timely manner and propose effective solutions. Compliance:

• Ensure Compliance requirements are met for all financial and accounting matters in relation to the Finance Director and the Compliance Officer. Department Strategy

• Contribute together with the Finance team to the strategic orientation of the Finance Department.

• You will promote effective accounting processes enabling accuracy, completeness, timeliness and appropriate valuation of reported financial data.

• Drive continuous improvement in processes Desired competencies and experience

• Bachelor’s in accounting.

• +1-2 years of relevant experience.

• Able to work in a team but also independently

• Capacity for independent decision-making and taking initiative.

• Excellent communication skills in French and English, both verbal and written.

• Computer skills MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point), and database.
