Scope of role

The Group Financial Controller (Group FC) will report into the CFO. They will oversee all financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and effective financial management across the group. This role requires a technically strong leader capable of driving continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and policies while supporting strategic decision-making.

As a Group Financial Controller, you will:

Monthly Management Accounts:

  • Oversee the delivery of monthly management accounts.
  • Work with the finance team to ensure timely, consistent, and accurate production of management accounts and commentary.
  • Ensure alignment with external reporting deadlines.

Year-End Audit:

  • Lead the year-end audit to successful group and entity-wide sign-off.
  • Collaborate with the entire finance team and outsourced providers.
  • Produce consolidated and subsidiary accounts.
  • Liaise with global audit teams to support the effective conclusion of the annual statutory audit.

Group Tax:

  • Coordinate group tax activities.
  • Work with outsourced tax advisors to ensure timely filings and payments for all group companies income tax returns
  • Work internally with the submission of Vat/Sales tax returns

Debt Reporting and Lender Relationships:

  • Manage debt reporting and maintain lender relationships.
  • Take ownership of covenant calculations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for lenders.

Cashflow and Treasury Management:

  • Oversee group cash flow and treasury management.
  • Ensure the accuracy of the weekly cash flow.
  • Ensure all bank accounts are appropriately funded.
  • Manage group FX exposure effectively.

Systems and Process Improvements:

  • Drive continuous systems and process improvements.
  • Enhance the efficiency, scalability, and reporting capabilities of the finance system.

Revenue Recognition Policy:

  • Evaluate and develop revenue recognition policies for bundled software and services.
  • Ensure compliance with FRS102 and appropriate revenue treatment.

Credit Control:

  • Act as the escalation point for credit control issues.
  • Manage the team to ensure timely receipt of cash.
  • Actively involve in high-value or aged debt resolution, liaising with the executive or sales team as necessary.

Budget and Forecasting:

  • Assist in the annual budget and quarterly re-forecast processes.
  • Collaborate with the FP&A team on global cash and deferred revenue calculations.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure all group companies comply with local regulations.
  • Stay updated with regulatory changes that could impact the company.

You have:

  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Proven experience in a senior finance role within a multi-entity organization (preferably Private equity backed)
  • Experience in a leadership role
  • Experience in external debt management
  • Strong knowledge of FRS102 and revenue recognition principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead audits and produce consolidated accounts.
  • Experience with financial systems and driving process improvements.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
