About this role

Business Unit Overview

The Finance Information and Analytics team is a high-performance global team, responsible for the external and internal reporting of BlackRock’s AUM, Net New Business, Net New Base Fee, Revenue, and related analytics.

  • On a weekly and monthly basis, the team calculates AUM, NNB, and NNBF and enriches it with pipeline, revenue, and client details.
  • The FI&A team provides market commentary and linkage to flows and AuM highlighting drivers and trends.
  • Reporting geared toward senior management is informative and insightful and the team produces quantitative and qualitative support for senior management decisions.
  • Members are actively involved in firm wide Revenue forecasting and budgeting, and production of ARMR/Actuals which is a key source of information for internal Management reporting purposes.
  • FI&A is committed to operational excellence, and the continuous optimization of its operating and production model.
  • The team is focused on strategic and tactical initiatives including data migrations and systems/data integrations.

Role Responsibilities

The FI&A team is looking for an individual to support in the following functions:

Financial Metric Production

  • Engage on weekly and monthly production processes of AuM, NNB and NNBF with output accuracy and as per the governance framework.
  • Support the on-boarding and reporting process for complex assignments.
  • Manage large volume of data and extract relevant data points for reporting and conduct research independently including reviewing legal contracts for pricing information.

Reporting and Dashboarding

  • Synthesize quantitative and qualitative data points into insights and reporting summaries. Develop impactful reports and visualization (dashboards) for internal use.
  • Partner with tech teams and subject matter experts across Operations, Investments, Client Businesses, and Finance to enable collaboration and information sharing.
  • Analyze trends and results of firm and market related data across the global asset management industry, including Mutual Funds, ETFs, and Alternatives along with client segmentation.
  • Summarize analysis into succinct written briefs narrative.

Systems

  • Help develop core analytical capabilities within Aladdin and IBM-Planning Analytics for the Assets Under Management (AUM) related processes (e.g., Organic Growth trend analysis, NNB, and NNBF reporting), using advanced quantitative techniques, and define or recommend model specifications or data collection methods.
  • Support portfolio on-boarding and reporting processes by utilizing Aladdin/ADAM, Excel, VBA/Macros, and planning tools such as IBM-Planning Analytics, Oracle Hyperion Essbase.
  • Provide oversight and guidance on integrations and migrations of data and systems.
  • Support tactical and strategic initiatives, including data migrations of internal and external systems and data/systems integration.

Skills / Experience:

  • 6 - 9 years of relevant work experience preferred.

  • Analytical, innovative, and organized with excellent attention to detail and commitment to excellence.

  • Creative problem-solving skills.

  • Self-starter with a high degree of intellectual ability and curiosity around macro trends and current events.

  • The ideal candidate will be currently operating in a similar role, analyzing trends across the financial services, markets and translating into briefs.

  • Ability to assimilate and interpret data from various sources and make recommendations using a combination of commercial judgement and analytic insights.

  • Experience in working with large sets of data and a proven ability to synthesize to isolate trends.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal presentation and written to share insights with key partners.

  • Comfortable working with multiple levels across the organization, including support of senior leadership and enjoys working in cross-functional teams.

  • Process minded with great focus on controls and risk mitigation by utilizing a methodical & organized approach.

  • Proficiency with enterprise reporting and dashboarding tools (Power BI, Tableau, Cognos Analytics).

  • Ability to work through challenging deadlines.

  • Understanding of the investment processes across Asset Management product structures.

  • Strong prioritization and influencing skills and ability to manage differing requirements from multiple clients.

For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $95,000 - $125,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
