Marketing Manager Macmillan Learning

Your team:
Every great company has a culture that makes it unique; a compelling sense of purpose that drives people to show up to work each day. For Macmillan Learning, that purpose is to inspire what’s possible for every learner. We are energised by that mission and by our role as a positive force in education. We know that what we do makes a difference and we work each day to unlock the potential of every learner. We’re dedicated to combining world-class content and evidence-backed technology to drive student success.

As a large, privately held, family owned company, we provide our employees with the freedom to focus on what’s most important: the students. Outside of the North American division where the company is headquartered, our International division is a small but innovative and results-oriented team based in London. Our focus is to grow our market share in targeted markets throughout EMEA in STEM, Social Science and Humanities disciplines. As part of this, we are now looking for a Marketing Manager to join our London-based marketing team.

Your role:
We are looking for an experienced marketer who has a proven track record of delivering excellent marketing plans that result in high-quality customer engagement and leads for sales. You will be creative and data-driven in equal measure. You will be used to working with a Sales team and influencing their knowledge and expertise, working as a tight-knit unit to grow the business. You will be passionate about education and technology as a driver for successful learning. You will also be bold in your desire to speak directly to customers to help influence the sales process or gather market feedback. As a scale-up-style part of a larger organisation, there’s a great opportunity here to make your mark.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Delivering impactful, measured and lead-generating marketing campaigns to achieve annual subject area and individual product sales targets
  • Developing highly creative and strategic annual marketing plans, achieving agreement with key stakeholders and organising activity effectively for the year ahead
  • Executing marketing plans, tracking performance and using Saleforce to monitor effectiveness as well as analysing the pipeline of sales opportunities to ensure targets are met. Making tweaks to campaigns where necessary
  • Utilising a broad array of marketing strategies and tactics to generate awareness, keeping up to date with latest digital marketing trends, trying new things and maintaining good results as you market the products
  • Owning the subject areas – developing strategies for growing data, understanding the data and analytics on each list, reporting, sharing and using information to feed back to the key stakeholders
  • Articulating product knowledge, market positioning, pricing and opportunities to the Sales teams through the delivery of effective presentations at sales conferences and the generation of accurate sales tools to support them in their work
  • Bringing market and competitor insight back to the business to influence commissioning, product development and sales opportunities. Using this knowledge to ensure the most appropriate elements of the marketing mix are used to create awareness and generate leads
  • Developing a deep understanding of our customers’ lifecycle, particularly in relation to digital product decision making, adoption, use and renewal. Creating optimal customer journeys that meet customers where they are.

Essential experience, abilities and knowledge you’ll need to succeed:

  • Experience of delivering successful B2B marketing campaigns and hitting sales targets

  • Marketing management utilising the full marketing mix

  • Highly creative, analytical and strategic

  • Commercial awareness and strong analytical skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to influence

  • Experience of presenting to, inspiring and influencing sales teams

  • Effective time management and the ability to manage a busy and varied workload.

Desirable skills we’d love you to have:

  • Experience of supporting an internationally based Sales team

  • Knowledge of higher education trends

  • Experience of selling and/or marketing educational content or technology.

  • Experience of account based marketing in order to grow high value accounts

What you’ll get in return:
In return we can offer you a range of great projects, a supportive and collaborative working environment as well as a competitive salary and benefits package.
