General Operations Lead

SAIT’s Applied Research and Innovation Services department helps partners conceptualize, prototype and deliver products to market. ARIS is on the leading edge of novel technology development. As one of Canada’s top applied-research colleges, SAIT has 50,000 square feet of specialized research labs, facilities, and full-time research staff who are solely dedicated to providing the services organizations need to take their products from concept to prototype.

The Opportunity

Since 2003, Applied Research and Innovation Services (ARIS) has been acting as the research arm of Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), one of Canada’s top research colleges. Using 50,000 square feet of specialized lab space located at the heart of Calgary and more than 80 research staff, ARIS provides a wide range of research and innovation services to industries in Alberta and across Canada. The Centre for Innovation and Research in Advanced Manufacturing and Materials (CIRAMM) is ARIS’ newest centre dedicated to advanced research in the areas of manufacturing and materials science. CIRAMM is currently in search for a motivated operations lead. Below is a summary of the job description and required qualifications. Those who are short listed will be contacted for an interview.

The Role

• Oversee and coordinate operations across CIRAMM's workgroups to ensure the followings and report on each to CIRAMM's chair:

-Proper execution of CIRAMM's workflow across all workgroups.

-Proper implementation of CIRAMM's policies, protocols and guidelines.

• Assist CIRAMM’s chair with reviewing and approving project scopes of work and reporting.
• Advise CIRAMM's chair on:

-Operations opportunities and risks.

-Research opportunities and risks.

-New policies and guidelines.

• Screening ecosystems to identify funding and partnership opportunities nationally and globally.
• Write, review and edit research proposals and reports.
• Assist CIRAMM's chair with developing and implementation of:

-Knowledge mobilization strategies

-Optimal metrics delivery strategies

• Liaise with industry partners.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

• Post secondary degree with relevant experience.
• Experience in research and innovation environments.
• Can work independently while being a team player.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Demonstrated understanding of project management concepts

Job Classification: Supervisor

Salary Range: $95,000 - $100,000

Hours per week: 37.5hrs
