The Role:

"The M&G plc Risk & Resilience function is responsible for effectively advising and challenging key stakeholders, challenging risks effectively and proactively, and adding value through providing enhanced business insights to ensure that risk is managed in line with the expectations of clients, shareholders and regulators, and to support the delivery of customers’ long term needs.

Operational Risk maintains the overall Operational Risk Framework, leads, coordinates and manages a range of risk management processes including overall risk reporting.

The Senior Risk Analyst reports into the Finance & Operations Operational Risk Manager for M&G plc. The role sits in the Operational Risk function, supporting operational risk oversight and guidance of areas including Finance and Technology, Corporate Affairs and Legal.

Key Responsibilities for this role:

  • Ensure compliance to the people policies, Group Code of Conduct and embedding desired behaviours in line with our Blueprint
  • Be personally accountable for identifying, assessing, managing and reporting risks within your area of responsibility, including supporting formal risk management activities e.g. Risk & Control Self Assessments and timely closure of Assurance actions
  • Assist with engagement of the Support Functions Business Areas on all operational risk matters and bring specialists in as required, including oversight of Business Area outsourcing partners.
  • Assist on the oversight and guidance of Business Area implementation of Operational Risk Framework including workshop facilitation – e.g. RCSA, Notifiable Events, Issues and Controls.
  • Develop and maintain the relationship between the first line and Operational Risk that is positive, respectful and constructive including oversight of risk culture embeddedness.
  • Assist on the delivery of Business Area specific Operational Risk training
  • Assist in the review and challenge of Business Area led root cause analysis.
  • Assist in the oversight and guidance of major Business Area specific change management programmes.

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Significant knowledge of Finance function processes in either Life or Asset Management (essential)
  • Knowledge of key concepts across Finance, Supplier, Data Governance, Change and Customer (desired)
  • Knowledge of key regulatory frameworks impacting the relevant business areas.
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to explain and articulate asset management concepts (essential).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (essential).
  • Ability to lead the team and work collaboratively with other teams across the three lines of defence (essential).
  • Experience of working within second or first line risk teams within financial services (essential)
  • Operational risk experience and embedding risk frameworks in either insurance or asset management firms.
  • Experience working with a variety of senior stakeholders up to Board level (essential)
  • Experience in operational risk oversight including the embedding of an operational risk framework in the first line of defence (desired)

Qualifications:

  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g. IRM Diploma in Risk Management, ACA, CIMA, ACCA, IIA) - (desirable)
