JOB SUMMARY

This position is a permanent member of the Livery Services Team within the Investigations and Special Operations unit of NUPD. The Livery Services Team is a civilian subset of the sworn Executive Protection Team and is responsible for providing professional logistical livery and security support services to the University President, and occasionally to other assigned principal individuals which could include members of university senior leadership, university guests, and other high profile visiting individuals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A valid Massachusetts driver license in good standing. Clean and safe driving history over last five years is required and must be maintained. Annual checks of appointee’s driver history will be performed by NUPD. In-depth knowledge of the City of Boston geography. Ability to remain in vehicle or standing for long periods of time. Ability to perform self-defense techniques. A minimum of five years’ experience in a full-time security position requiring independent decision-making including driving is required. Professional driving experience, prior training in decision and defensive driving, prior training in defensive tactics, and prior security or law enforcement experience is required. Annual defensive driving, self-defense, and livery security services training will be provided by NUPD. Ability to work late evenings, weekends and holidays is required. Appointees will be assigned to a rotating on-call schedule outside of their regular work hours where they will be required to be available during the times in which they are assigned on-call. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required within one month of appointment and must be maintained. Annual training will be provided by NUPD. Proven record of professional attitude, demeanor, and presentation. Proven record of strong communication skills and decision-making skills. Proven record of consistent reliability, dependability and trustworthiness.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

Responsibilities of a Livery Services and Security Associate include the following:

Ensure University President (or other assigned principle) arrives safely and on time for all assignments. This includes researching and preparing driving directions and estimated travel time in advance, taking into account traffic congestion, construction, weather conditions, etc., which may delay timely transport.

Ensure all locations University President (or other assigned principle) is traveling to are properly vetted for security concerns prior to travel.

Provide security advance for University President (or other assigned principle) to ensure locations are safe to arrive and depart from.

Provide basic security services for University President (or other assigned principle) if situation deems it necessary including but not limited to CPR/first aid, relocation, and extraction.

Ensure the upkeep, cleanliness and maintenance of vehicle/s designated for use by the President’s office, including keeping vehicle/s fueled, cleaned, inspected and maintained at all times. This includes preparing and maintaining records of scheduled vehicle maintenance plus ensuring appropriate preventative maintenance is performed.

Prepare daily and weekly schedules in conjunction with the designated staff in the President’s office. Maintain a daily log of activities including transports, security services, vehicle maintenance, deliveries, etc. Maintain a detailed record of cash disbursements for gasoline, tolls and miscellaneous expenses using Concur program to submit monthly statements. Provide deliveries as needed. Perform other duties or security services as required.
