The Business Development Manager at GEA Process Engineering Ltd (GPUK) drives new business development and sales growth across multiple sectors, with a focus on capital equipment and projects. This role is critical in identifying and securing new opportunities, expanding the customer base, and aligning with the company’s strategic and operational plans.

Responsibilities / Tasks

New Business Development:

  • Lead efforts to acquire new business, targeting emerging markets and new customer segments.
  • Utilise a proactive, "hunter" mindset to identify and close new opportunities.
  • Implement strategies to penetrate untapped markets and establish GPUK as a key player

Sales & Budget Management:

  • Manage sales across targeted sectors, including developing and managing sales budgets.
  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks to optimise planning and align with company goals.
  • Monitor market trends to adapt strategies for sustained growth.

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key and new customer accounts.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction aligns with business objectives and long-term partnerships.
  • Use market intelligence to refine customer engagement and anticipate needs.

Strategic Contribution:

  • Contribute to strategic and operational plans, focusing on aggressive sales growth in targeted sectors.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to drive the company’s strategic objectives.

Sales Process & Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead the sales process from strategy development to deal closure, including negotiation and risk management.
  • Maintain a price and margin growth strategy using sales tools (CRM/SAP) for efficiency.
  • Drive continuous improvement in sales processes, enhancing performance and innovation.

Digital & Future-Focused Approach:

  • Embrace a digitally minded approach to connect with new customer segments and markets.
  • Build relationships with emerging markets, bringing creativity and innovation to the sales strategy.
  • Collaborate on complex bids while focusing on new business development.

Your Profile / Qualifications

  • A university degree in business, management OR a technical field.
  • Strong in market intelligence, strategic planning and digital tools for customer engagement.
  • Proven B2B sales experience in capital equipment or consultancy with a focus on new business development
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Resilient and a proactive mindset
  • Strategic thinker with a focus on innovation and future trends
  • Ability to navigate and influence within diverse cultures and organisational structures
