Windows Engineer

We are looking to hire a Windows Engineer to join our Infrastructure team. In this role you will help to define strategy for our Windows environment and support its implementation. This means you will bring new technology to the organization and help to implement and then operationalize it. You will also ensure day to day stability of the platform and work on incident tickets. You will work with environments on-premises, in IBM Cloud and AWS. Part of your role will be to collaborate and help supervise our technology partners, vendors, managed service providers.

What you will do

• Design, deploy, and administer Windows based infrastructure
• Input into Windows platform strategy and infrastructure roadmap
• Prepare project plans, provide estimates for project tasks, and assist with prioritization in relation to capacity planning and performance analytics.
• Collaborate with vendors, manage service providers and colleagues.
• Oversee operations, establish process and standard operating procedures
• Work on incident tickets to recover from outages and take proactive measures to prevent them.
• Build OS images, patch bundles, scripts and automation
• Build CI/CD Pipelines
• Write code in PowerShell, Python/Ruby/Go and desired state for Chef/Ansible

Working Environment:

• Hybrid work environment in Toronto/Markham metro area
• Small global team working on a complex environment with a lot of vendors and stakeholders
• Global organization with colleagues from overseas and work engagements outside of core business hours

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years in a similar role
• Ability to clearly communicate orally and in writing with engineers, vendors, managers, business, clients.
• Ability to write standard operating procedures, documentation, strategy documents and roadmaps
• 2+ years of experience with AWS/Azure (EC2, S3, AMI, EBS, IAM, VPC)
• 5+ years of experience with VMware based virtualization
• 2+ years of experience with Hyper-V based virtualization
• Comfortable in several scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Ruby, Go, etc).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Good understanding of centralized configuration management, orchestration, and infrastructure as code techniques (Terraform)

• Experience with CI/CD tools and techniques (Jenkins)

• Running containers in Windows environment

• Experience with Observability / Monitoring tooling - Datadog, Splunk, ELK

• Ability to write GPO

• Experience with running AD

• Good understanding of networking protocols including switching technologies, routing fundamentals, firewalls, IP subnets, firewalling, load balancing

• Understanding of compliance requirements for PCI environments
