We are undergoing a major transformation, migrating from on-premise infrastructure to Google Cloud Platform, with some resources on Azure. As our first FinOps Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our cloud financial strategy, working directly with the CTO, IT Directors, and global Cloud Teams. You’ll fully co-own our cloud cost planning, execution, and delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the FinOps strategy to optimize cloud costs, ensuring financial accountability from planning to execution.
  • Drive cloud cost visibility and impact on budgets through reports and forecasts for leadership, highlighting savings.
  • Implement tools to monitor and optimize real-time cloud costs, ensuring cost-efficiency without performance loss.
  • Collaborate with Cloud, Finance, and IT teams to align decisions with financial goals and promote a cost-conscious culture.
  • Establish KPIs, dashboards, and reports for cloud cost transparency, fostering accountability.
  • Negotiate with cloud providers to optimize pricing, contracts, and reserved instances.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in IT, Cloud Operations with a focus on running production cloud systems and optimizing cloud costs (GCP).
  • Solid knowledge of GCP services (Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, BigQuery), AWS, Azure, and data analysis tools (BigQuery).
  • Proven track record of impacting cloud budgets and executing FinOps strategies. Proficient with FinOps tools and optimization techniques.
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture, cost structures, and pricing models for GCP, AWS, and Azure.
  • Experience working with data warehouses and various types of databases.
  • Knowledge of DevOps tools and practices (e.g., CI/CD, infrastructure as code).
  • Analytical thinking with the ability to analyze large datasets and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence decision-making, and collaborate with global stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, and Polish is a plus.
  • Certifications are a plus.
