Overview:

The Engineering Manager will oversee and manage all aspects of the Design/Project Engineering Department. This includes acquiring, scheduling, and managing engineering resources as they are applied to projects and tenders. This position is focused on biological processes, aerobic and anaerobic, complete wastewater system designs, service and startup for industrial wastewater treatment in a project driven business unit. This position will also develop project/department budgets and must manage within these budget constraints. This position will provide direction and knowledge on all design aspects of the project as well as assisting with project workload.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directs daily engineering activities for his/her department.
  • Supervise and delegate workload to Project Engineers and Designers.
  • Assist in preparing & reviewing proposals, project budgets and tender deliverables.
  • Develop proposals for field inspections/aftermarket services.
  • Perform field inspections/aftermarket services or delegate these tasks to department resources.
  • Select and inspect major equipment included as part of the scope of supply.
  • Review and approval of all specifications, calculations, drawings, documents, submittals created by his/her department.
  • Manage checkout process for all projects and transition projects into startup.
  • Collaborate internally with process engineering staff, instrumentation & controls team, sales, and project managers.
  • Serve as Project Manager for small capital projects and service projects based on workload.
  • Collaborates with other Veolia Business Units to share engineering resources and win projects.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with engineering and equipment suppliers.
  • Develop the skills and abilities of others in the Engineering Department. This is done by coaching and training employees as needed on assignments.
  • Manage SAPI process on all Anaerobic projects.
  • Assist in negotiating terms & conditions with clients/vendors and purchase orders with the goal of cost savings.
  • Approve employee time cards and expense reports.

Requirements

Core Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical, civil or environmental engineering or equivalent.
  • 10+ years experience in the field of projects and engineering design related to wastewater treatment preferred.
  • Experience in complete wastewater system design desired.
  • Field commissioning and/or start-up experience desired.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suites.
  • Autocad proficiency desired.
  • Professional Engineering License is highly recommended.
  • Project Management experience desired.
  • PMP License is a plus.
  • Travel may be up to approximately 25%.
  • Self starter with ability to multi-task and take on multiple projects at a time.
