As a remote-first organisation, Findmypast employees choose how and where in the UK they work best, whether that's from home or at one of our offices. Yet, we recognise the value in seeing each other in person from time to time.

About the Role:

The Social History Archive is a new initiative by Findmypast leveraging the wealth of primary source content the business has licensed, digitised and published over the years to deliver a platform that caters for the wide range of research and teaching needs of the Higher Education sector in our key US and UK markets and beyond.

As Marketing Manager at The Social History Archive your mission will be to develop a marketing strategy and plan designed to create awareness of the brand, familiarity with the product and to drive qualified leads among diverse audiences.

You’ll use your experience in B2B marketing to develop a multi-channel approach to brand equity and lead generation, building on initial marketing activity but for the most part developing work from scratch. You’ll have experience working on complex products in B2B organisations, and it’s essential that you’ll have extensive working knowledge of the USA, a key market for the Social History Archive. Any specific experience working in the academic sector is not essential but would be a bonus.
Working in a cross-functional team and with the broader Findmypast business, you’ll help to create an evidence-driven approach to marketing, and you’ll work collaboratively in a culture that values both creativity backed by data, customer insight, commercial acumen, good design, high quality delivery and efficient, repeatable processes.

Here’s what the role involves:

Strategic Planning and Execution

  • Developing a robust marketing strategy aligned with business goals
  • Planning, creating, and executing marketing campaigns across various channels
  • Setting and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs)

Lead Generation and Nurturing

  • Designing demand generation campaigns
  • Creating content and assets to attract and engage prospects
  • Collaborating closely with sales on lead handoff and follow-up

Content and Brand Management

  • Developing thought leadership content like whitepapers, case studies, and webinars
  • Managing the company's front end online presence and digital marketing efforts
  • Maintaining brand consistency across all marketing materials

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Working closely with sales teams to support their efforts
  • Partnering with product teams and leadership on positioning and go-to-market planning
  • Coordinating with other departments like customer success and finance

Budget and Resource Management

  • Managing the marketing budget
  • Allocating resources effectively across campaigns and initiatives
  • Overseeing external vendors and other partners

Analytics and Reporting

  • Analysing campaign performance and marketing ROI
  • Reporting on key metrics to leadership
  • Using insights to continuously optimise marketing efforts

Event Management

  • Planning and executing trade shows, conferences, and other industry events
  • Organizing company-hosted events like customer seminars

Requirements

And here are the capabilities and qualities that you’ll need:

  • Experience working on brand and lead generation for a data-driven B2B business
  • Experience developing marketing strategies and the plans that bring those strategies to life through multi-channel delivery, from events to webinars to thought leadership to advertising, social content and CRM
  • Strong commercial acumen and a clear understanding of both efficiency and effectiveness measures
  • Evidence of working well with sales functions, anticipating needs and producing campaigns and materials that support acquisition and retention goals
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, and excellent communication ability, capable of working with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and comfortable driving programmes with multiple dependencies, both internal and external
  • Comfortable in a small, flat, highly collaborative team
  • A global outlook, and critically, significant experience of working with and in the USA

If this sounds relevant and appealing, then do get in touch.

And finally, Honouring History is a core value at Findmypast. If you care about history and want to work somewhere that brings history into lecture theatres and living rooms, you’ll fit right in.
