Director, Software Engineering

The Product Development division of the platform is undergoing a transformation to promote the adoption of a more secure, simplified checkout experience. This is being achieved through the introduction of new product capabilities within the Click to Pay ecosystem, which leverages Visa's tokenization and other features. To facilitate the onboarding of merchants and PSPs worldwide for various regional markets, Visa has partnered with multiple card schemes, adopting the EMVCo standard for Click To Pay as a solution.

The Director role requires a strong technology and leadership background with experience building enterprise-scale applications using Java, Springboot, REST APIs, RDBMS, Angular/React, NoSQL, Kafka, and Hazelcast.

• Key responsibilities and requirements include:
• Responsibility for the overall development life cycle of the solution and management of complex products with significant bottom-line impact.
• Ability to work with and possibly interact with other teams across the globe.
• Work with product managers to develop a strategy and roadmap to provide compelling capabilities that help them succeed in their business goals.
• Work closely with senior engineers to develop the best technical design and approach for new product development.
• Instill best practices for software development and documentation, assure designs meet requirements, and deliver high quality work on tight schedules.
• Project management skills: prioritization, planning of projects and features, stakeholder management, and tracking of external commitments.
• Operational Excellence: monitoring & operation of production services.
• Identify opportunities for further enhancements and refinements to standards and processes.
• Mentor junior team members, develop departmental procedures and best practices standards.
• Hire and retain world-class talents to deliver platform product click to pay and scan to pay product features.
• Strong negotiation skills: You will be a distinguished ambassador for product development, collaborating, negotiating, managing tradeoffs, and evaluating opportunistic new ideas with business partners.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

• We are looking for a technically strong individual who is curious about the payment eco-system and drive adoption and drive innovation and keeping the customer focus. Our ideal candidate will:
• 14 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 10+ years of work experience with a PhD
• Requires 14+ years of experience, at least 4 of which were in leading engineering teams
• Proven experience delivering large scale, highly available production software.
• Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• A deep understanding of end-to-end software development in a team, and a track record of shipping software on time
• Payment processing background desirable but not required
• Experience working in an Agile and Test-Driven Development environment, Strong business and technical vision.
• Drive GenAI in team to bring out productivity and more adoption for avenues of opportunity.
