Job Description

We’re looking for an intern/graduate student to join our 3D Printing team in Eindhoven.

Signify is a world leader in lighting that is committed to creating a low-carbon future. Signify is utilizing 100% renewable electricity in all its manufacturing sites since 2020 and have set even bolder sustainability goals, such as doubling its positive impact on the environment and society by 2025.
To achieve these goals, we are applying innovative technologies like 3D printing to manufacture products closer to our customers, with more responsible materials and shorter circular loops. The "Business Unit 3D Printing" within Signify is committed to developing and producing 3D printed luminaires that make a positive impact under brands like "Philips MyCreation."
This internship will focus on the design of products that translate sustainable material sources into lighting ‘hero’ products that embody the value(s) of the source material(s). In recent years, the materials market is flooded by materials that are being offered by sustainable entrepreneurs, you can help us to map opportunities and measure the impact and feasibility of materials in our business. The intern/ graduate will help scope material sources and initiate conversations with potential suppliers to develop a product proposition that is attractive to customers and offers a leading sustainability story.

What you’ll do

• Analyse opportunities to further improve the environmental footprint of our products, with a focus on circular material sources.

• Actively scope sources and suppliers for materials suitable for our manufacturing processes.

• Play a role in building the future sustainable hero material roadmap for 3D printed products at Signify.

• Develop 3D printed prototypes to convince stakeholders of future sustainable products including the sustainable marketing story.

• Work together with experienced engineers to understand the end-to-end process from material to customer….and beyond.

Your qualifications

• Currently studying to obtain a university Bachelor or Masters in Design (engineering) or a comparable field.

• An interest and affinity for sustainably (product) design and principles related to the circular economy.

• Good communication skills

• An entrepreneurial character

• Fluent written and spoken English.
