About the position:

The Director of DevOps focuses on people management within the engineering domain, considering their team as the primary product. Prioritizing the well-being of their team, they cultivate a positive and productive work environment while maintaining technical proficiency and understanding the engineering tasks. Their core responsibilities revolve around hiring exceptional talent, ensuring the team's success, and fulfilling product commitments. They actively pursue opportunities to enhance productivity and efficiency through cross-departmental collaboration to achieve shared objectives and goals.

What You'll Be Responsible for:

• Manage multiple teams working on diverse environments and platforms.

• Ensure timely project delivery across all teams.

• Support engineers' professional growth and skill development through coaching and guidance.

• Develop detailed project plans for each team's specific platform and environment.

• Execute agile project management processes tailored to each team's needs.

• Cultivate empathy and address team concerns.

• Recruit globally distributed talent and conduct high-quality interviews.

• Implement process improvements to enhance productivity across different environments.

Basic Qualifications:

• Minimum of 12 years of hands-on experience in DevOps.

• Minimum of 10 years of experience managing/deploying applications on various cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Azure).

• Minimum of 5 years of experience leading multiple teams within an agile environment.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in direct people leadership, including talent development, performance management, team building, and succession planning.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field from a top-ranked college.

• Demonstrated experience leading geographically distributed teams.

Technical Requirements:

• Excellent operational principles including observability, alerting, tracing, incident management, SLIs & SLOs, and capacity planning.

• Proficiency in using Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, or similar tools for project management and collaboration.

• Strong negotiation skills to achieve consensus across departments and collaborate with teams organization-wide.

• Hands-on familiarity with Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, and other Orchestration tools.

• Experience with configuration management platforms such as Chef, Puppet, Salt, or Ansible.

• Familiarity with Redis, Nginx, Cloudflare, and other common technologies.

• Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Loki.
