As Marqeta’s Director, Sales, you will manage one of our strategic accounts (Walmart) and work closely with cross-functional teams at Marqeta. You will set the strategy for meeting your quarterly goals by expanding existing client programs and delivering new partners.

Our Growth, Core, Enterprise, & Strategic Accounts sales teams partner closely with the most innovative companies in North America to deliver Modern Card Issuing and Processing solutions that help customers manage their finances, build wealth and economic stability. Marqeta is powering a transformation in payments as companies transition to providing innovative embedded financial solutions for their customers. We advise prospects and customers on the shifting payments marketplace, potential ways to innovate in the space, derive increased value from the movement of money and increase customer loyalty.

This role can be performed remotely but must be within the Greater New York City Metro Area. We’d love for you to join us!

What You’ll Do

  • Cultivate relationships with key executives at prospects and internal partners to build a sustainable “pipeline” of opportunities and drive revenue growth.
  • Grow revenue and gross profit by managing existing business, identifying and upselling additional programs and expanding existing and new programs to additional markets
  • ​​Deliver quarterly sales plans, V2MoM goals and develop joint business plans with key prospects and partners.
  • Build a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and high-performing sales team by influencing the team's GTM strategy, hiring, team structure, culture, and sales processes.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration and alignment with key partner teams, including Vetting, Delivery, GNSO, Sales Strategy and Operations, Banking Partnerships and other teams in sales globally.

What We’re Looking For

  • 15 years of experience in sales, operations, or partner management.
  • 5 years of experience in managing teams.
  • Fintech knowledge/exp – Thought leadership, as demonstrated by industry expertise in Payments, Retail, Fintech and Banking, with an ability to influence in complex situations.
  • Proven experience in strategic account planning and execution for success.
  • Prior experience working with Walmart or One Finance and ability to leverage existing network

Compensation and Benefits in Marqeta’s Revenue Organization

Marqeta is a Flex First company which allows you to choose your best working environment, whether that be from home or at a company office. To support Flex First, we calibrate pay to a competitive value according to working location. Compensation is aligned according to three tiers within the United States:

  • National: A baseline tier that applies to most of the geographic territory of the United States.
  • Premium: Slightly elevated from the National tier, and oriented toward a narrower set of higher cost-of-living areas, such as Los Angeles CA and Seattle WA
  • Premium Plus: A tier for the most expensive working areas, like the San Francisco Bay area and New York City.

Within our Revenue organization at Marqeta, On Target Earnings (OTE) is composed of a mix between annual salary and variable compensation, which is earned based on your individual performance and that of your immediate team.

When determining an OTE figure we consider several factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior experience, and work location. The new-hire base OTE range for this position is:

  • National: $288,000 - $384,000
  • Premium: $303,000 - $404,000
  • Premium Plus: $319,000 - $425,000
