The Business Development function is responsible for generating new business and developing and strengthening client relationships and, along with the Marketing team, is driving our efforts to cement our position as a global brand and a leader in the legal technology space.

The Business Development function is responsible for generating new business and developing and strengthening client relationships and, along with the Marketing team, is driving our efforts to cement our position as a global brand and a leader in the legal technology space.

In this commercially focussed role, reporting directly to the Senior Business Development Director in London, you will be responsible for driving growth in our Hearings business in EMEA, owning a portfolio of law firm accounts which will be your primary focus day-to-day.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Promoting Opus 2 in EMEA and executing our go-to-market strategy and account coverage plan for the Hearings business.
  • Proactive development of relationships within your assigned law firms to:
    • generate specific case leads, where firms have upcoming litigation or arbitration hearings.
    • ensure we are ‘top of mind’ when a future need for Opus 2 Hearings arises.
    • create new contacts and nurture existing ones to drive engagement that leads to new and repeat business.
  • Networking and regularly attending industry events and conferences, building connections with key stakeholders in litigation and arbitration.
  • Participating in Opus 2-hosted events and client hospitality, including on panels/webinars.
  • Demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of the Opus 2 Hearings solution so that you can confidently demo and articulate the value proposition.
  • Understanding the LegalTech market, as well as the drivers and challenges for our clients so that you can optimise conversations.
  • Understanding all account activity and the outcome of each instruction, working in tandem with the Inside Sales and operational teams to drive the achievement of our goals.
  • Owning and executing specific business development initiatives from inception to conclusion.
  • Contributing to regional strategy development, offering ideas and tactics and executing effectively.
  • Assisting the Marketing team with the development of key messaging and relevant collateral and helping to shape Opus 2-hosted events.
  • Communicating product feedback and market intelligence for effective utilisation in our product development process, marketing plans, sales strategy and account management.
  • Effective and timely recording of your business development activities in our CRM system.

Requirements

What we are looking for in you

  • 5+ years of proven experience working in the legal industry, and a deep understanding of the disputes landscape.

  • You are commercially savvy, and familiar with how to effectively carry out business development in the legal world.

  • You understand the value technology can deliver to litigation and arbitration proceedings, as well as law firms seeking to improve and differentiate their own client service delivery.

  • You are outgoing and proactively take advantage of opportunities to network with prospects and clients.

  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills and are confident presenting and delivering impactful demonstrations or panel discussions.

  • You can lead meetings, leveraging your prior knowledge and expertise to steer the conversation effectively.

  • You can build relationships with senior stakeholders, with credibility and gravitas to influence.

  • You are passionate about the use of technology.

  • You have commercial acumen and can think strategically.

  • You are agile and self-motivated, capable of working under pressure in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple workstreams simultaneously and prioritising effectively.

  • You are a team player, not afraid to roll up your sleeves to drive the execution of tasks.

  • Knowledge of and experience using litigation technology tools, as well as CRM solutions, business intelligence software and PowerPoint.

  • Willingness to travel.

Hours

  • 9:00- 17:30 Monday to Friday, with flexibility to work additional hours on occasion to meet business needs (e.g. for evening events).
  • Ability to work from home two days per week.
