Sportradar‘s newly founded Sports Virtualisation unit located in Bremen, Germany develops innovative and disruptive technology to enable the transition from traditional sports media consumption to new ways to engage with sports.

The latest computer vision technology is key to allow real-time rendering of statistics and virtual ads on top of broadcasts. It also enables the use of skeletal tracking data to render virtual recreations of sports events and transform the way they are experienced. Together with the top leagues and federations around the globe, we are working on our vision for a range of products to increase fan engagement for the world of tomorrow.

As Sports Virtualisation senior architect, you will be responsible for developing the architecture of the future. Working closely with the Product and Engineering teams, you will drive the building of a platform that delivers Mixed and Augmented Reality and interactive video content on a scalable, muti-region, cloud-native microservices architecture. Along the way, you will evangelize modern engineering best practices and ensure that the software developed is of the highest quality.

MISSION:

  • Form a strong partnership with our product and engineering delivery teams
  • Drive building the platform for delivering Mixed and Augmented Reality and interactive video content to sports fans across the globe
  • Ensure the solution is engineered to have the appropriate software quality attributes
  • Coach and mentor domain architects across the tribe
  • Evangelize the widescale adoption of modern engineering best practices
  • Ensure that architectural designs are modelled and documented to a high standard

Requirements

  • Lifetime learner, interested in understanding the technology state of the art
  • Positive and inclusive communicator and collaborator
  • Pragmatic practitioner, able to balance an idealized solution with real-world constraints
  • Strategic thinker, able to keep the long-term goal in sight whilst delivering today’s needs
  • Relevant architectural experience, with a range of items from 3D engines, e.g. Unreal 5, Unity 3D Databases, e.g., Relational, Key-value, Wide Column, Document, Graph Container hosting, e.g., Kubernetes, Functions as a Service API Design, Documentation and Evolution
  • Previous programming experience with C++, C# or Java
  • Service integration using Event Brokers e.g., Kafka, Rabbit MQ, NATS
  • Modern engineering methods, e.g., TDD/BDD, DevOps, Domain Driven Design, Lean, Agile
  • Good communication skills, self-motivation and a strong sense of ownership, self-leadership and responsibility as well as complex problem-solving skills
