Project Director

Our client is a prominent Belgian multidisciplinary company, that has been a trailblazer in construction, real estate development, and concessions for decades. It operates across Northern and Eastern Europe, North and Central Africa, the Middle East, Canada, and Australia, and it is renowned for its cutting-edge engineering department and its expertise in geotechnical engineering, concrete technology, BIM, and system engineering.

We are looking for experienced Project Directors to join our client's team in its projects and expansion.

We seek individuals with a proven track record of managing large-scale construction projects exceeding €150 million, and who are eager to build a long-term career with one of the most innovative and multidisciplinary companies in the industry.

Your Tasks

• Project Supervision: Oversee and coordinate the successful completion of projects in line with client requirements, organizational policies, contractual obligations, and budget and time specifications.

• Third-Party Coordination: Collaborate closely with the Procurement Team to manage third-party relationships. Negotiate with contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle, including participation in tenders and contract management.

• Contract Management: Engage in contract preparation and negotiation, ensuring adherence to all contractual requirements and the successful accomplishment of all contract aspects.

• Validation and Control: Validate technical, financial, and time-related contractual options, and conduct thorough follow-up and budget control.

• Public Relations: Develop and maintain social contacts and public relations to enhance the company's reputation and business opportunities.

• Project Implementation: Implement project budgets and allocate resources, enforce project standards, oversee technical reviews, and manage team mobilization. Prepare and present monthly progress reports.

• Business Development: Actively participate in the business community to build relationships and generate business opportunities, working closely with General Management and Business Development to target and secure opportunities in various regions or countries.

• Employee Development: Proactively manage the training and professional development of project employees to ensure continuous growth and competency.

• Communication Skills: Exhibit outstanding communication skills for engaging with both internal and external stakeholders.
• High-Level Negotiation: Skilled in negotiating in high-level and complex environments.
• Professional and Entrepreneurial: Maintain a professional demeanor, with a strong entrepreneurial spirit and results-oriented approach.
• Flexibility and Adaptability: Demonstrate a high degree of flexibility and adaptability to diverse working conditions.
• Commercial Acumen: Possess strong commercial skills and a keen business sense.

Your Qualification

• Educational Background: Hold an academic degree in Engineering (construction or architecture).

• Experience: At least 15 years of relevant experience within a major construction company, managing large, complex construction projects exceeding €150 million, in buildings, civil, or marine and infrastructure works.

• Contract Management Expertise: Extensive experience in claim handling and contract management, particularly with FIDIC contracts.

• Willingness to Relocate: Preferably willing to work and live abroad, with flexibility in terms of the geographical area of work. Indicate your preferred work region in your motivation letter.

Languages

• Fluent in English; proficiency in any other European language, particularly French or Dutch, is an asset.
